Windows 10

Also, while I'm 99.9% confident they won't be locking Retail licenses to single motherboards, I am planning a hardware upgrade before the end of this year. So rather than update my W7 license, I'm just going to run with Preview until all is clarified and I get my upgrade sorted.

Basically, if your happy to run beta software, with very little support and a "tough ****" response if some things don't quote work then you get to have Windows for nothing. Considering my PC has probably spent more time with beta builds on it than not, I'm obviously OK with this :p.

I've got a Samsung NP355V5C-A0EUK, with AMD A8-4500M and 6GB RAM, that I use as my spare notebook. The unit seems to run Windows 8 that it came with it just fine, however, if I do a fresh install of Windows 10, the operating system appears to have quite high latency and any action on it seems to be delayed. I made sure to install the most recent stable chipset + GPU drivers on it.

I have recently installed Windows 7 on it to make sure it's not hardware related, and that OS seems to be flying on it. Any idea what might be causing Windows 10 to run slow on my laptop?

Allot of back peddling going on here, so we've gone from Windows 10 free to everyone on 7 or later including pirates and insiders to uncertainty over what kind of license 7+ users will get, pirates will get a version that they'll either have to roll back or buy a genuine license for, while insiders will stay as beta testers who will have to suffer the perils of a beta tester while having every keystroke logged!!!

Unless MS come up with a nice deal on Windows 10 retail I think most will just stick with 7 again.

Lol. About right.

Wow, such panic, much overreaction, very scare.

Windows 10 will be the fastest adopted and most widely used desktop OS ever, guaranteed.

Like an allotment?

After being inspired by silversurfer I had a Google and found you can get Keys for around that price on G2A, I've bought game keys with no problems from them but can they be trusted with Windows keys? I've already been stung once for £35 for a Key that stopped working after 6 months from a long standing ebayer with lots of trust :(

I think you can safely assume that any copies of Windows being sold for £25 are either upgrade licenses only, or dodgy.

But again, licensed 10 is available for nothing in a few different ways, so why would you even want to buy a 8.1 copy to get it ?

I paid around £32 from Kinguin for a 8.1 Pro key, been working fine for over a year, using my 8 Pro key (upgraded to 8.1 on the ultrabook).

"Working fine" doesn't mean it isn't dodgy.

My many many XP installs over the years all worked fine, yet were far from properly licensed.

True, but the key has been used with MS to get the Win 8.1 ISO and it was coming back as a 8.1 Pro full key, not an upgrade.

I took a punt on the key site for it and its allowed me to reserve my copy of Windows 10.

My 8 Pro is a retail version anyway so I moved that to the Ultrabook, if the key turns out bad, I can use my 7 retail key for the gaming rig :)
