**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

This is the only phone I've managed to tear myself away from a 4 year love affair with an iphone. Battery is absolutely fantastic, its snappy, camera is good if you use the settings posted by (I believe) Mrk or Stoosh.

If you get a case-mate barely there case for it, it feels a whole lot less square too!

cool - any good places to pick one up with cashback or otherwise?

I also hear there's a new version coming out soon (no the z4 or z3+)

How exactly does it retrain the battery...

5.1 learns the way you use your device. It then utilises the battery when.your not and knows that tour most likely not going to me using it between set times. This makes the phone more efficient.

Retrain was nit my word it's from a thread on xda talking about battery usage with 5.1

Yeah exdialer is a paid app. Worth the money for me and it has a few nice themes to choose from.

I have payed for it in the end, my 2nd bought app ( first was ''sleep for android''), as I can't go without swiping left/right in my dialer and contacts. I have also downloaded a dark theme, but it doesn't look as good as on my old S4, I kind of miss amoled haha, a more colorful theme suits this phone better, but the white was to bright for me, going to have a play with more themes soon.

Do you know of an app that allows the same in the messages/sms list ?

I've had the Z3 for a good few months now, and as anyone who knows me will testify, I am incredibly hard to please when it comes to phone, but I have to say, the Z3 must be one of the most underrated phones out right now. It seems to be largely ignored by almost everyone. Its not neccesarily the best in any one area but as an all rounder it really is very difficult to beat.

Example, only a Full HD screen, yes, but its bright, vibrant, plenty sharp and is actually usable outdoors (my old M8 was pathetic compared to the Z3 for outdoor use). Also, it means that the battery life is much better than some of its rivals.

20 Megapixel camera is among the highest found on an android, and leads to incredibly detailed photos, which generally come out well. I do find the lack of HDR somewhat confusing though, not to mention the lack of OIS, but generally it doesn't seem to matter.

It feels very premium and well made, as good or better than an iPhone IMO.

Sound from the speakers up there with the M8 (which has excellent speakers).

The Operating System feels almost as good and responsive as a Nexus, I've just installed all of the Google apps and replaced / disabled the Sony ones.

Battery life is excellent, 6 - 7 hours SOT possible. 2 days light use.

Awesomely impressed, everyone talks about other phones but these really are great. I chose it over a Galaxy S5 / Note 4. I had a One Plus One before and this is much more polished and responsive.

Downsides are the headphone out is a bit quiet, shame you can't default to 20 MPX using the shutter key, slow updates, double-tap to wake in combination with smart lock leads to phone unlocking in pocket on its own.

Never had the bottle to dunk it, especially after reading posts on here saying theirs died, but its nice to know it'd survive a bit of rain or a quick drop into a puddle or toilet. Case is a must I reckon, it would shatter if dropped.

Had my Z3 less than a week and this happened. The cat knocked it off the work surface onto the filed floor, a ~3foot drop

Fortunately the only damage is the tampered glass back protector

The Z3 camera doesn't have an HDR mode? Wow... Genuinely surprised at that.

Yeah @ 8MP it has HDR. I don't use it though, prefer to -1 EV it in manual mode and bring it back in Snapseed or PS Mobile later if needed.

My mistake on the HDR, I think I'm that used to using it at 20mpx manual mode I've kind of forgotten about it. That said when I compared 8mpx (HDR) with 20mpx (non-HDR) when I first got the phone I compared and still preferred the 20mpx mode.

I seem to be cursed with my Z3 - had it since November and have shattered the rear glass (now covered with a Casemate - talk about closing the gate after the horse has bolted!), and have now found out that my Ultimate Shield is cracked - 'twas in my Kriega R3 (motorcycle man bag) at the weekend - guess there was a bit of pressure on it.

Other than these issues, it's a peachy phone, though the screen is **** imo - have about 4 dead pixels, and two white 'ghost' patches - like little circles of lightened colour.

Oh well :D
