No. And if anything we should be showing people the reality of where their meat comes from. It doesn't magically appear on shelves in plastic wrap. It was once an animal. It was slaughtered. Here's what it looks like on the bone and raw. Get people thinking more about where their meat comes from. Looking at better standards for animal welfare and husbandry.

this.......... bring back traditional butchers where you walk in point to a part of half a carcass and say I'll have 2lb of flank and a cut off the neck for my stock please mister butcher.

How the hell did you get there

There's quite a lot of stuff written about how our appendage is thought to be designed to allow us to compete in the presence of another male's deposit. One situation this would occur is the presence of a "free love" culture, which there isn't much evidence for. The other - more plausible - one is gang rape. This isn't really much of a stretch seeing as violence and rape are quite an important part of our history.

So, you are the shape you are because you were designed to scoop out what another man left behind. Does that mean you want to do it?

I really don't care if other people eat meat, what bugs me is the logically flawed & arguments you get in favor of it from otherwise intelligent people. People don't have to defend their choices, but when they take faulty lines of reasoning to do it, it makes it difficult not to comment. It's perfectly fine to just say "I care about eating meat more than the lives of animals", it's short, honest & avoids any delusions.

Argument 1. It's natural to eat meat.

This is a meaningless statement, it's natural to die in your early 30's & for a significant percentage of women & children to die in childbirth. The natural state of a given thing doesn't make it desirable. Besides whatever behavior we exhibit is natural as believe it or not, we are also.

What's really being said is "We did it before, therefore we should continue doing it" - this is an appeal to tradition.

Argument 2. Where do you get your protein?.

Google image search 'Vegan bodybuilder/weightlifter' - it's entirely possible to get more than enough protein for a well balanced diet, it simply requires more effort.

Argument 3. We have canine teeth.

We also have an appendix, tailbone, erector Pili (nervous response with hairs), the remnants of our second eyelid & minor muscles in our upper ears from when we used to be able to direct them. We are not reptiles because we the remains of an additional eyelid, neither are we 'designed' to eat meat by having significantly reduced canines & our jaw & teeth makeup closer matches fruit eaters than canines anatomically.

We simply have the capacity to eat meat, this is not an argument for or against it.

Argument 4. Vegetables have feelings too!.

Show me a single study which shows vegetables being capable of feeling pain, fear & some level of awareness of the situation.

Nope.

I'm not going to get into a discussion as to why we eat meat, because generally the veggie lunatics come out of the woodwork with their houlier than though attitude.

Argument 5 - I really quite like the taste.
Which isn't a logical argument in favor or against, it's simply a personal preference (which is also void of any delusions & contradiction free).

Tbh the main thing which bugs me about meat eaters is the constant whinging about personal pet hates related to animals (dog festival, fur, hunting, eating animals they deem 'special', arguing about which method of slaughter is most ethical).

Clearly we don't need it.

We will if the population continues to expand. That's why indoor veg farms and in vitro meat are seen as the future of food production. Traditional farming and animal husbandry methods won't be able to sustain an ever expanding population. Not without completely killing the planet (chopping down huge tracts of rain forest to give over to livestock and grains / vegetables / fruits).

At 25,000 square feet, the farm can yield up to 10,000 heads of lettuce a day. That’s 100 times more per square foot than traditional methods.

Indeed. Lab grown meat & hydroponics/indoor/vertical farming will indeed be the future of food consumption - nothing else is sustainable in the long term.

The environmental factors attributed to meat consumption alone will significantly reduce it in the coming decades.

Adverts for lawyers - repulsive.
Adverts for payday loan companies - repulsive.
Adverts for big business "charities" - repulsive.

I do not have an opinion on meat adverts. They obviously go under the radar of my conscious brain, and therefore are not offensive to me.

On a related note:

Adverts for Colgate toothpaste. FFS Colgate, why do you have 50 different kinds of toothpaste? Does your whitening paste not also tackle gum disease? Does your gum disease toothpaste not freshen my breath? Why do you have three different whitening pastes? Who is buying all these different niche toothpastes????!??!

They are to cater to your personal fears and give the impression that it matters which one you buy.
