anybody find meat adverts repulsive?

Well done for making an ethical decision to reduce suffering, if only others had the ability to feel compassion (just look at some of the replies from people actually making FUN of the abuse of innocent beings). Yes I find that repulsive and I also find people that choose to live comfortably numb after being exposed to the suffering, disgraceful.

You might find this manifest on the world's suffering interesting food for thought.

Nope, more than happy to hunt for my own food myself so it doesn't really affect me. Nothing better than eating a rabbit pie you know you've put the effort into making.

Had an argument with a female friend about the fact I hunted rabbit and how I was evil, she wasn't even a vegetarian. Said she was okay eating meat as she didn't have to deal with where it came from when she buys it off a shelf.

^ Cant stand hypocrites who not only impose their own moral views on you as if you have an obligation to follow them but pick and choose when to follow them for their own convenience.

I think if everyone who had your attitude Antony, animals would be kept and killed more humanely, food would be of better quality, prized more and the farmers would be valued more (therefore making ethical farming a financially viable option on a larger scale).

I think everyone should know where their food comes from. whether it is meat or not. If you eat meat, you should be prepared to kill what you eat for perspective sake. People should understand that if you pay next to nothing for bananas in your local supermarket, there is likely a guy half way across the world struggling to feed a family on his banana picking wage. If you eat mince or burgers from Tesco, you should find out what the horse was called, what odds it was given and every jockey who rode it.

People say it's cruel to eat meat but nature is cruel.

I watched a program the other night that showed how lions break the legs of Deers they hunt so they cannot escape. They then drag them back to their pride to eat. They keep the animal alive as long as possible whilst tearing it's limbs off so the meat is fresh.

Is this cruel or just nature. Surely it's no less cruel than man killing animals for food ?

So I shouldn't hire an accountant until I have completed an ACCA, or buy a desk from Argos until I can build one myself? :D

No but you should be prepared to check the numbers if he tells you that money is falling through your pockets.

Also, i think you will find you should be prepared to build a desk if your buying one from argos (or Ikea). Everything comes flatpack these days it seems :(

I don't care how much my meat has suffered as long as it tastes good. I'm not a rabbit, or a fairy.

I do hope you're just performing a bit of internet bravado - as that sort of attitude is pretty low. As much as I love meat/game I want to make sure that the meat I do get comes from as ethical a source as possible.

I probably worded it a bit wrong and it sounds like i want it to suffer. I should have said; when i buy it, cook it or eat it it simply does not cross my mind, the only thing that does is how it tastes.

working with the stuff was horrible ,I don't know how people work in the meat factory where I lasted 6 hours .
it wasn't the fact that peoples noses were dripping on the meat and people sneezed on the meat ,and threw meat at each other and then picked it up of the floor (they supply the big supermarkets}, it was seeing the truck with its one way cargo of cows and having to sit through a video of the slaughter on the induction (ok I turned away but the suction sounds were pretty gruesume )
and the skips of god knows what .anyway I don't feel bad when I eat quorn and always talk to the cows on my walk ,they are awesome creatures !
