Radeon FURY thread

Buying a 4GB card for 4K is not particularly wise long term though, there are already videos floating around with big pauses where paging to main memory is likely occuring.

This for one:

that isnt clear its caused by vram tho
im surprised there not been more tests on this
or maybe i just missed them all ><

going hbm could be great advice we just dont know!?
6gb gddr5 might not be enough sooner than 4gb hbm??

The difference is I'm a fan of technology, not companies. AMD and Nvidia are all the same to me. Not joining an AMD circle jerk doesn't make me a Nvidia fanboy.

LOL, funny how in most of your posts then the word fanboy is inextricably preceded by AMD, but we'll overlook that fact or the fact that you get called out on it constantly and conveniently don't respond to it. You use "fanboy" probably more than anyone on this forum but pretend to be impartial. Sorry but not even Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles are believing that.

And you are just plain wrong, the evidence is there in black and white, even now you have shifted the goal post and specified an exact resolution, that just closes the gap.

The FuryX performs well and i am not in the slightest disappointed or surprised by its performance and it does enough to keep Nvidia on its toes, but under no definition can you say the FuryX performs as well as a 980Ti. That is just a lie.

The card is marketed as a 4k card, has been since day 1, 4k is the resolution i play at. And in a lot of reviews the ti and the fury are within a couple of fps of each other at 4k, sometimes the ti wins by a couple, sometimes the fury x does. Yet thats called "moving the goalposts"? My sig has the monitor i use in it, i think it stands to reason i didn't buy a 4k panel to play at 1080p or 1440p. Might want to use a bit of common sense instead of basing all your rambling at resolutions that don't matter to me.

(notice when the first major stutter occurs that VRAM has emptied itself by about 1GB).

You do realise i had a fury x for a day or so and didn't run into the issue he did. He has reflection aa at 8x which probably caused the issue. Why anyone would want 8x anti aliased reflections is anyones guess, even more so at 4k.

If anything i noticed i could enable other settings like maxed distance scaling at 4k which on my 295x2 had performance issues.

I;m not falling for your troll bait when you move the goal posts around like that. Enjoy your card.

Keep falling back onto that argument about "moving the goal posts", hmm a user with a 4k screen buys a card marketed for 4k (and has a second card on the way), what resolution could he POSSIBLY be talking about.

If it beats the GTA 980 comfortably, Might consider one of these (depending on price).

One of these would do me until a die shrink. To afraid to order another Fury X in case I get another screamer :p

At 4k the Fury X is more powerful than a 980ti, Fury is likely to be more powerful at 4k than the 980.
Isn't it better to benchmark at the highest possible resolution, or do review sites prefer to test at eol resolutions like 1080p to gimp AMD results?

Looks to be coming out at £450ish, not worth it imo (may as well wait for a Ti deal about £500!!). Only 2 AIB's releasing them is realllllllllllly bad news for pricing too :(

At the end of the day, the stock reference Ti is still superior accross ALL resolutions, and that's before even looking at the frametimes where the FX is bettered by your regular old GTX 980. Claiming that the FX is equal to Ti is just plain wrong and such claims are borne out of either a) strong propensity to trolling web forums or b) delusion and self-deception / religious approach to issues of computing technology. Must say option a is fairly normal especially now that the scools are out and kids are getting bored but those falling under case b are a touch more worrying.

Hoping for a good launch tomorrow and would like to see more AIB partners lay their claim, although if it's only Asus and Sapphire as rumoured then at least there should be a wide spectrum of info about those two.

Gotta love these forum psychologists.

So lets see, pc per in one of their webcasts said that the fury x has essentially got parity to the 980 ti, thats a site that a lot have accused of having an nvidia bias. Going by your 2 slot system they're either trolling or delusional. Yeah...doubt it.

and one of the two is the strix?
with the cooler that was like the worst 980ti?

....so....one

The jury's still out on that one, some reviewers report excellent results while for others it's performing poorly.

Then there's the rumour that the DCUIII on Ti is the same one designed for Fury, which is why it's not sitting optimally.

We'll be wiser this time tomorrow!

FPS taken during actual gaming;

Numbers don't lie man...

Will these be voltage locked?

The Fury-X is not voltage locked, its just that no third party software understands its voltage regulators yet.

Fury will be the same, we will just have to wait for the software to catchup.
