Windows 10

What I did is:

Get the version Windows 10 Insider Preview (x64) - Build 10162 ISO here via Microsoft link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/preview-iso

install that onto clean HDD or SSD and enter product key for Pro version:
8N67H-M3CY9-QT7C4-2TR7M-TXYCV

when install completed. Now go to system and click upgrade to add features and put a new product key in: CKFK9-QNGF2-D34FM-99QX2-8XC4K and it will upgraded to Enterprise from Pro with addition more features and that's it.

perfect, thanks

randal why don't you download 10162 ISO here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/preview-iso

and try again!

just use the 10162 iso then

Well yes I could do that, but I'd like to know why it's stopped working all of a sudden and ideally how to fix it. It's been working fine for months, receiving updates and generally being fine.

To reinstall would a) defeat the purpose of testing the preview and providing feedback and b) quite frankly be boring. :D

Surely this doesn't give you the full free version of Enterprise after the 29th?

and will expire?

Think they were referring to using the ISO to upgrade to 10162 (as I did) instead of waiting for windows update...

Maybe it's a bug with windows update and 10130, meaning you could be waiting forever to upgrade via windows update, so it fits perfectly into the realms of testing :D

Fair point. :)

Either way, I'd like to fix the underlying issue to see what the deal is with it all. I missed the intricacies of the MS account integration on W8.1, so be good to understand how it all fits together on W10.

From that site "Microsoft will determine the device lifetime -- and thus the support stretch -- by "customer type"

This is going to get nasty in a year or so. In my opinion that is ;)

The big question is will we get another free upgrade after Win10 lifetime?

Time will tell I guess.

Yes very true! But I think you can purchase it via microsoft online store once August 1st release of Enterprise RTM but it will be costy! But it's will be more features and more security for business. (not for home users) but I prefer more security.

Unless if OCUK will get Enterprise via online shop. (I do hope so!)

Surely simples

Most 8 users on Pro anyway but if lifetime is deemed shorter than we need for 10

.at end of this free 10 period We downgrade back to 8.1 Pro which will be supported till .... quite a long way off
