My new evo

It's just not as nice to use. The 6 speed isn't bad, but the 5 speed has more of a rifle bolt feel to it. It's also a much stronger gearbox.

^^ What he said.

The extra gear is a godsend on the motorway though. The 5 speed is over 3500 at 70mph. Loud exhausts get a bit tiring driving from the south of England up to Scotland :(

Yeah, if I went for 400bhp+ I've heard I need to switch to the 5 speed. On my 6 speed 1st and 2nd are pretty tricky to engage.

Edit: I can barely hear my exhaust inside the car but from the outside it's crazy loud. Mine has the HKS Super Drager as standard.

It's pretty much just the billies and the roof to be honest.
Most of the rest was cosmetic differences. Black steering wheel. Different trim. TD alloys. Unpainted rear spoiler.

Good to know. I have HKS exhaust, HKS hard pipes, Brembo brakes, Momo steering wheel and a half leather interior. Think that's about it.

Yeah. The MR will have that but the steering wheel is black/grey instead of silver.
Ahh. Just remembered yours is a 260? There's a few other differences. The cams in the 260 are a bit limiting, you don't get HID's, no auto folding mirrors or closing windows (I don't think?). And no rear wiper on the 260.
Although I do seem to recall the 260 has the stronger MR rods??

The MR had uprated pistons and head gasket over the FQ . There was a massive debate on this over on the MRL forum a while ago .. AS the 260 was produced at the same time it turns out it has the upgraded bottem end of the MR .. All cars from the VII to IX share the same rods!!! 260 also has the USD cams and slightly different injectors:(. As a base for tuning though it is a good cost affective way to start.. I am in the process of fitting an APS cold air feed and IC spray bottle relocation kit. I decided to replace the IC/turbo pipes with samco silicon as the originals were looking tired on inspection . So i am awaiting on the post... I still have a rev hanging problem so as it is probably an air leak somewhere this is probably a good thing to do .. So at the moment the car is in limbo.

I also painted the intercooler although i shall be replacing at some point.

Looks good. I've a fair few things to do to my Evo but lack of funds are holding me back at the moment.

Join the club! Mine is sitting in the garage gathering dust!

Mine is being used once or twice a week but it needs a new battery, needs a new carbon blade for the spoiler, needs the vent cover sorted, needs a bit of bodywork attention on the doors just before the rear arches and the calipers need painted as all the red is chipping off. That should set me back ridiculous amounts of money.

Evo's defiantly are not cheap to run but when you get them on the road its all worth it:D I have sunk about 7k into mine in 8 months:eek: And i still have a vast shopping list. Talking of shopping lists some more turned up today..

Series 80 turbo fitting kit and gaskets , cam belts and bearings and an uprated fuel pump.. Got a free oil filter as well by the look if things:D
