auction site rage

I'm going to guess you bought item number 381333060845 - according to the seller's feeback, they'd already sold an identical model processor (item number 381330479038) two days earlier. This alone would have rang alarm bells for me.

Just read those links. Looks odd. Espicially since listed as seller refurbished and same item within 2 days.

I see it was just economy postage. Madness!

So this seller's apparently stupid enough to deliberately send a mangled, apparently unidentifiable processor in the post, claim the damage (not sure damage is the right word, devastation perhaps?) was caused by Royal Mail, claims the cost of the item back on insurance, then rinses and repeats, apparently?

Yeah, that's pretty dense. Surely the RM and eBay/PayPal will see right through this.

Yeaa it came through the letter box. Opened it . Thought bloody hell. Looked out the window. Postman was few houses away so shouted for him to come back.

Tracking status doesn't say it had been delivered to me.

Regarding the listing it was 2 days after i bought it that i had noticed they sold an identical one 2 days before. Same description etc.

I was paranoid then, as I posted out a 4670K Engineering Sample CPU that I sold via ebay last week.

I posted it over via RMSD and put it in an envelope, but I did put it into one of the clear plastic boxes that retail CPU's are in when you buy a new one.

I also padded the envelope out.

Would have sold it via MM, but ES CPU's are not allowed.

Looks like an accurate description for once:
'Seller Refurbished' - Cpu in pieces - check
'Hardly used' - see above - check

Still shocking and I wish there was more you could do about it!

hang on

Seller sells a completely damaged cpu in the post with the intention of claiming the money from royal mail.....but posts it without the buyer having to sign for it?

afaik, if you want to insure a parcel for £200 (assume thats what its worth?) if needs to be special delivery

There is no way in hell the lid of the CPU was detached in the post, end of.

These things don't just "fall off", they have to be prised apart with a tool

That doesn't look like a 4670k to me. They don't have a lip going all around the CPU, they have a pair of 'wings' for want of a better description.

It looks like an ivy i3. I just had a peek at a 3220 I have lying here and it looks identical, just less..... knackered.

But why list your ebay add as £3.60 postage and send it just as signed for?

Thats got to be only £50 compo when he could have claimed up to £150 for 6670k?

If you are going to do post insurance scam, at least make it worth your while!

Doesn't add up

Seller didn't post with high insurance
Damage could not be done by RM
Buyer has evidence postie took the parcel back that day (does he?)

If so, it really doesn't make sense
