The labour Leader thread...

This contest will break the Labour Party yet...

The Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday night that former Labour cabinet minister Peter Mandelson attempted a “secret plot” to convince Corbyn’s three rival candidates – Yvette Cooper, Andy Burnham and Liz Kendall – to pull out to annul the contest.

That worked very well for him...

The Labour peer is said to have hoped that the dramatic move would have forced the party to halt the ballot and scupper the leftwinger’s chances, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The peer reportedly retreated from the suggestion when it emerged that a withdrawal of the other candidates would automatically confer the leadership on the remaining contender.

Clever, very clever... :D

I think we'll find that apart from a few particularly childish MPs and the high pitched whining of Blair and a few key advisers the party will mostly fall into line. The Blairites will be smart enough to realise that spliting the party will only poop the pool and that five years is long enough for Corbyn to run into trouble and be removed at a more opportune moment.

Made me chuckle :D - the desperateness of former Labour figureheads isn't too far off.....

firmly believe that if somebody can't be bothered to learn the policies of a party they are voting for then they should stay at home come election day. Our democracy is flawed enough as it is without it being subverted by the stupid.

It's often said that too many stay at home already. Perhaps in the light of the above, it's still not enough :D;)

I'm not a traditional Labour supporter but Corbyn has been the most engaging in this debate. Andy Burnham was on 5 Live tonight and delivered a terrible performance - by the standards of today's mediocre politicians he was rank.

"Party members should vote for me because I'm the only chance to stop Corbyn."

Q: "Where should the second votes go?"

"I'm not in the business of telling the party how to vote"

Since the election Labour have attracted a certain kind of voter, one who is resonating with Corbyn. They have become the voice of the party. If the current MPs / leadership candidates don't like that then they are unrepresentative of the party, not the other way around. Instead, Burnham and others keep focussing on telling party members that they're wrong. Maybe Burnham & Co are in the wrong party...

Had to laugh and come on GD to see if there was a thread on Cooper. Just reading her trash where she wants all military invervention against ISIS stopped until the chilcot report into the Iraq war. Haha what has that war got to do with ISIS now? Everyone knows ISIS need to be stopped but low and behold Labour want to give them breathing space. If there is anyone who needs to be deprived of that it would be ISIS and Cooper herself.

Does being automatically left mean you have to be a barefaced liar and gutless PC coward? The woman also said that we caused the current immigration crisis, YET if you look at any photographs of the people crossing the med 90% of them are Eritrean/Somalian.

The Tory scum must be laughing at the prospect of taking this lot on in the next election. Who do you vote for at this rate scum A or scum B?

At least Ed Milliband knows when to keep his mouth shut, as I read yesterday he was keeping out of the debate :D

Yeah I saw that as well and thought Ed was spot on in staying out of it. I know people don't like him, but I reckon Ed Milliband could end up being the best PM Britain never had.

The electorate thought otherwise thankfully.

What makes you think he's the best pm we never had? His track record as leader of the opposition?

Ed managed to deliver the one thing nobody expected - a Conservative majority - quite a feat!

Labour should and could have won the election were it not for him and his leadership or lack of it.

The farce that's now unfolding in the leadership contest is just securing the next Conservative majority, great legacy there Ed!

It was that sort of delusional think that put Labour in the mess it is in now.

If and when Corbyn wins it will only get worse.

Labour cant win regardless of who they vote for, the lefty vote will continue to diminish if either of the three Blairites get nominated, the tory-lite elements of the party will likely rebel if Corbyn is nominated.

So either they lose and be a party with no depth at all, or they lose and at least have some respect for being an actual opposition.

What Labour should ideally focus on currently is proposing a less aggravating voting system and they wont do that being the ********* they are currently.

Well for starters he kept the UK armed forces out of the Syrian conflict when the PM was hell bent on getting involved. I for one will always be grateful to him for doing that. He also challenged Murdoch's buyout of the remainder of BSkyB shares, which is probably why the sheeple think he's so useless.

Yet he didn't take on the Trinity Mirror Group, why was that?
