Latest immigration figures.

So going by that definition then it's ok for migrant to come here, rape, murder pillage so long as he pays his taxes to a level above what he's costing?

I know it's an extreme example & not suggesting all migrants are the same but just making a point.

No

I would suggest that raping, murdering and pillaging cause more of a detriment to our society that the tax he pays.

What I'm saying is that overall the fact we have a varied culture is a good thing. Financially and otherwise.

migrants coming here to work are good for the economy

Yep,

They are great for companies to again drive down wages and erode workers rights, hell if they could I'm sure they'd make slavery legal again. That statement is also not entirely true as most migrant workers send the money back home.

Also in before "Brits are lazy" comments, no they're just not retarded enough to work for a pittance in terrible conditions....

Won't find out till next June. But if labour vote in a certain leader I think he may.
After all the labour party said they want to stay in so no vote....They lost :)

Comrade Corbyn is probably pro-EU I imagine - he wants lots of foreigners coming to this country and displacing the native population.

And when you take into account the number of people leaving the u.k the numbers are even more embarrassing for the knuckle dragging ukip morons!

As usual the right-wing media are disingenuous about figures and actual reality so as to further their own agenda. But hey lets blame hard working TAX paying immigrants for the failings of our politicians and government

Are you against immigration generally, or just for unskilled workers?

You got it!

Was tongue in cheek though. But with an underlying serious point. Clarkson-esque.

People who keep having children who quite clearly can't afford them are an issue. Forget the economic impact, what about the children? Borderline child abuse imo.

However this thread always delivers...

GD hasn't quite grasped there is a middle ground in this. Voicing concerns over immigration doesn't make you a racist. Singing praise about immigration doesn't mean you are a clueless liberal.... but crack on guys!

After this latest set of figures there is more of a reason to leave the EU. Roll on next june.

To me, the figures just once again show the big problem is migration from outside of the EU. We have control of that, yet the numbers are higher than EU immigration and the number of those migrants coming here for work is significantly lower.

kind of is

you don't get Californians moaning about 'immigration' from other US states yet we have people come from certain other EU states - Romania, Bulgaria, Poland etc.. and the daily fail brigade is up in arms... strangely enough no one complains about highly educated French graduates working in the city, but as soon as it can be portrayed as affecting the chav class then tis quite easy for the xenophobia to be stirred up

I often think of this example and wonder if so many people would be up in arms if the immigrants spoke English as their first language (i.e. there was no other languages in Europe). I swear some of the anger is after hearing a foreign language spoken at the local supermarket.

I'll just pop up the local town centre any day of the week. I can see first hand all those hard working immigrants.

At least we can all get a £2.50 car wash and a cheap tarmaced drive.

No real surprise as you only have to read half the comments in this thread. I'd hate to bring children up and make them deal with our downfall.

Reminds me of people celebrating trickle down economics all those years ago, the government did a fantastic job selling the idea to the idiots and they bought it hook line and sinker. Look how well that one turned out 30 or so years later.

They're doing the same with immigration, mark my words. Someone somewhere is profiting, you just need to find out who and why. Everyone has an agenda when it comes to money.

But hey we will all be slightly richer in wealth and have a greater selection of foreign restaurants to spend it at.

That's the kicker, we won't be. Who will be richer? not the common/middle class folk that is for sure. They'll suffer the consequences as they always do. But it'll be dressed up in a way to make it look like it's benefiting everyone.

That doesn't address the questions you were asked.

The data is there, if it is that important to you you can find it and prove the stats wrong or misinterpreted, I'd be more than happy to concede the point.

I suspect many of them are private (by people who have emigrated or are renting elsewhere), and probably some are even second homes - but there will also be a tranche that are state homes.

Also, housebuilding is picking up since the recession, we're not up the levels of the 1970s but it is ramping up.

The point is, irrespective of the net migration being so tiny, it has an insignificant impact on housing. There is/was a housing crisis irrespective of immigration - this will have a negligible impact.

They seem quite happy living 10-20 to a house and in garages so the demand on housing can't be that great.

Maybe that's where Brits are going wrong?
