*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Got my warlock too Lv30, jesus the jump is so painfully slow, the class seems pretty fun thought, going to try get too Lv32 then grind IB for boots then I can have Lv34 with some horrible gears and slowly fix them. Brother Vance has some nice gloves this week if I get those I could be Lv34 with Ram :D.

Who is thinking of ordering the physical copy from Simply Games for £36.85 then trading their original Destiny disk copy in?

Seems like the best way as the digital pre-order on PSN is £39.99 and with the PSN servers being ropey at the best of times will be rubbish on release day even with my Sky Fibre at 72M download speeds.

Feel free to add me as well guys - Shawreyboy PS4 only.

The physical copy will probably be physical copy of the original "vanilla" game and codes for the rest.

I am just going to get the digital copy.

Bungie usually roll the update out a week or so before launch...shouldn't be an issue on release day (hasn't been for previous DLC). You just wait til launch time and go to orbit and ta daaaaa, new content is there.

AFAIK it hasn't been confirmed but the general consensus is that the physical will be Vanilla disc and codes for TDB and HoW so you could sell them on too. I was thinking of doing exactly that however I had vouchers for HMV which were going to expire shortly so just bought PSN credit for digital copy of TTK.

It is amazing how much peoples preferences on jumps are. I really like the warlock jump, it is slow but you don't carry momentum like you do as a titan and glide jumps are so much more accurate than the hunter jump. Warlock also has the advantage of a glide or blink. It has been my one big surprise of TTK that they haven't balance the classes by giving a titan a blink and hunters a glide.

Its the momentum for me, I play 90% crucible so triple jump is accurate enough althought I use blink more. I'm going to finish leveling sunsinger then try out voidwalker. I really enjoy the nades and the super for the sunsinger, but the jump just makes it painfully slow to get places.

I assume you are using focused burst?

If not use that as it offers up an initial burst of momentum forward in the jump.

I prefer the way Pigtails moves around but that is more down to the fact I have sunk about twice as much time into her as the other two (that and for a few months I had two Warlocks).

I'm using focused burst now, control was just so painful better off just running. I guess it takes time but I like the Titan boost better, and blink, blink is awesome but with an up coming nerf not sure how useful it will be soon.

I'm glad they didn't give the Titans a blink, different classes should have some unique advantages and disadvantages to them. They seem to have gotten lazy and duplicated a few grenade abilities on the new classes but I guess its not a big deal as every class already seemed to have its own version of the sticky grenade(bar voidwalker).

Warlock glide does suck :p every time I play the class I'm reminded of how rubbish it is. The only advantage I see that it has over the Titan jump is you can decelerate to a stop when falling much faster but I cant remember the last time I suicided in that manner.

PvP is a different beast to PvE though, with the exception of blink, the jumping is still generally to get somewhere rather than offensively/deffensively. I get around the issue though as I use voidwalker for PvP so use blink and use sinsinger for PvE where I like to have a glide.

Glide is great in 6v6, go aerial when you know someone is about to engage you and 9 times out of 10 they come round the corner and have no clue where you are. True Vanguard bangs on about this :)

I like doing that, especially above doorways. They run through, look around and then bam!! they're dead from above!

Started a new character last night as I got a PS4 to play with a friend. Sucks starting from new :( miss my Titan on the Xbone too as I'm playing as a warlock this time

Add me on PSN, TSteedie

I'll add you tonight, happy to tag along with you for some stuff. If you see me online just throw me an invite.

No more XP buff from Nightfalls. No more Nightfall modifier! NF will require level 40.
Where did you get this info from? Does that mean the reputation and token bonus is also removed?

The level requirement isn't such a bother as i'm sure I will be at 40 within a few days.

Was on the weekly update. Rep and XP are being upped to offset the loss of the buff.

They wanted to stop the weekly 'chore' aspect of people running 3 NF and weeklies after the reset. Legendary marks are now account-level rather than character, with no weekly limit....so you don't have to run 3 chars through everything to get all the lewts, you can just main one.

Escalation

Once you’ve completed the new story campaign, a whole new suite of endgame activities will beckon. That’s where Strikes get even more challenging. When you seek context for the Destiny endgame, look no further than the Creative Director for The Taken King - also known as the guy who led the construction of your Vault of Glass...

Luke Smith: In our Strike the Dreadnaught reveal earlier this week, we showed some and told some about how we wanted Strikes to move forward into Year 2.
Strike replayability is augmented by variability.
Bosses with more interested combat phases and less vitality.
Strike-specific rewards.
E.g., Armor drops that look like trophies from the Strike boss
E.g., weapons that only drop from certain Strikes

But those aren't the only changes coming to Strikes. We've also looked at the programming/Strike playlists and made some changes there, too.

Nightfall
Our desired Nightfall experience is the weekly ritual where you get together with your friends for a test of thumbskill and allow players to optimize for gear.

Burn skulls motivate weapon rotation and now the Burn resist talents found on chest pieces will rotate armor.

The death penalty of being kicked to orbit often leads to players feeling forced to play too safe, rather than running through the world as a monster killing machine.

Another thing we didn't like about the Year 1 Nightfall was how players could feel forced to play Nightfall as early as possible in the week to maximize the benefit from the Nightfall buff. So, we've shelved that buff until we can reform it into something closer to its original intent - a mark of prestige for having achieved something challenging. We've adjusted sources of XP and Reputation up to account for its absence.
Now Requires Level 40
Wiping no longer returns Fireteams to Orbit
Now uses 30 second time-out penalty for Death (same as Raid Normal)

Weekly Heroic Strikes
We've removed a dedicated Weekly Heroic Strike from the game this Fall. In its place we've added a new playlist: the Vanguard Heroic Playlist.

Each week players receive bonus Legendary Marks from the Weekly Heroic Playlist. These awards are received at the Account level rather than the character level - as was the case with Year One Weekly Heroic Rewards.

We made this change to enable players to focus on a single character more, or feel less pressure to gear three characters at once for Legendary Marks.
Requires Level 40
Removed the Weekly Heroic Strikes
Instead, accounts receive Legendary Marks for completing the first three Weekly Strikes
Removed the Weekly Cap on how many Legendary Marks can be earned.
Guarantee a Legendary Engram drop from a character's first clear of a Weekly Heroic Strike

Weekly PVP Ritual
Nightfall was built as a ritual experience for groups of three players in PVE. In Year 1, we didn't have a good weekly ritual experience for PVP players.

Once players have completed the PVP Intro chain on Lord Shaxx, they receive access to the Weekly PVP quests on Lord Shaxx and the PVP Quartermaster.

Each week, Lord Shaxx has a Bounty called "The True Meaning of War." Completing this Bounty each week (which requires completing the PVP weeklies) grants players Nightfall tier rewards.

Daily Heroic/Daily PVP
It's important to us that Destiny remain compatible with real life. Playing multiple characters can sometimes feel like a job or a chore, the Daily Heroic and Daily PVP often felt that way. So we increased their rewards and made them an account completion. We want players to choose which characters they want to play on and earn Legendary Marks on.

Did we mention that you’ll need to confront the immediate threat first? Oryx lies between you and these challenges. You'll need to survive his wrath to partake in the new endgame.

Does this mean finish the story or beat the raid?

I'm assuming the former but who knows when it comes to Destiny updates.. :p
