Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Ordered from Simplygames as well yesterday, I'm sure my postman holds them. As it never arrived today, I never get a game early from them but always do from ShopTo. I've got enough to keep be busy until Tuesday anyway.

Not seen anybody else mention the terrible crashing/loading issues in the Prologue. Every time I die I get thrown to a loading screen which just locks forever. Then I reset the game and can reload and carry on. It's really annoying; hope the rest of the game is a bit more stable because having to reload the whole damn game every time I die is taking me back to Spectrum days...

Perhaps nobody else dies in the prologue...

Not hadca crash yet or anything. My ps4 does sound like a 747 getting ready to take off though occasionally.

Database rebuild seems to have fixed it. I realised after it hung at the end of the Prologue with the same 'Loading Date 506 Seconds' message that it was not going to clear as I moved forward through the game. In Afghan now; looks to me like we finally have true next gen graphics, most importantly at 60fps...

Got my copy through the door this morning. Tonight gon' be good.

Not usually one to spring for steelbooks, but I have a soft spot for Shinkawa's brushwork! Played about 3/4 hours today and I'm really liking it so far. Part of me misses the focused feel of the previous games' linearity, but at the same time I really like being able to plan your way of attack and there's a lot more scope for improvisation. One thing I don't like are the intrusive credits before and after each mission - I don't need to be constantly told that it's a game written and directed by Hideo Kojima every hour...

Yer credits are very annoying! Thought it was the shortest game even when I completed the first afgan bit and they popped up! :p

It is a massive time sink! I'm finding i'll keep re-starting a checkpoint in a mission as I've been spotted and I want to retain stealth!

Graphics are brilliant - much more impressive than ground zeroes in my opinion but a lot of that is down to the environment

Just a note about snake moving/controller drift - I've been getting that on one controller, rather frustrating! The other one is fine though

Im usually the same but try not to worry too much, getting seen isnt as punishing as before! I had a mission go to complete poo earlier, ended up taking loads of damage, alarms everywhere. But i just pushed through and some how got an S rank still, was a bit suprised as i thought i did terrible!

Reloading checkpoints goes against mission score too, restarting the mission completely i suppose gives you a clean slate

It looks like I'm not getting my collector's edition until Tuesday, so I started the 360 version to sate my hunger.

The fox engine really is incredible; it's so scaleable that it's running well enough even on this last gen hardware.
