Went to an RS mini-meet at Boxhill (pics shamelessly stolen from another forum) -

Over 1600hp between these two..............

.............and a rough total of over 6000hp for the whole meet!

Quick potato snap. Back from paint, 3rd time lucky. Decent now and got £150 back so the eventual bare metal respray and wheel refurb ended up costing £1050. Granted it's not a 3k paintjob but it's so much better than when I first bought the car and also his last 2 attempts.

X5 looks nice....but that money would have bought a very decent Range Rover so i cannot approve :p

Actually would it? Or would it just have bought a ripoff last of the old model?

I did consider range rovers. It's a company car and I wouldn't stretch to the new one without bumping my allowance quite a bit. I looked at a previous model and although it was lovely, I didn't want to blow that on a previous generation car (and prefer the drive of the x5 as well as i-drive and all things BMW). I've become pretty loyal to BMW, this is my 5th since about 2008 or 9 and also helps I have a pal in BMW finance who got a me a good deal. Even thought the X5 is a bit obnoxious it's less so than the current RR sport in my view.

At the other end of the land rover spectrum, I even test drove a discovery sport, which was absolute cack. Felt very agricultural by comparison.

Didn't Topgear do something to see how fast you needed to be to go past a Gatso without setting it off?

test falls apart with today's front facing truvelo cameras and SPECS average speed systems.

But yes they did, do 170 + and it wouldn't be able to react quick enough.

I love reading this thread.

I think it's testament to the fact that it really doesn't matter what you drive we're all here to enjoy each others cars!

Take a look at the diversity between the last half dozen cars or so, as an example!

My scooby, lots more to do my wallet hates me...

Images over 1,280 pixels wide should be placed in spoiler tags as I've done for you.

Have had this lass a week now. Had a busy day yesterday getting new tyres fitted, getting the tracking done, fitting new filters, new wipers, new numberplates, and starting my partial de-badging (Corolla badge is still to come off) - Just need to restore that headlight now! :)

No plans to fiddle about with it just yet, but in a few months time there are some tweaks I'd like to make. ;)

Sure about that?

The British Standard for number plates
The British Standard sets out the characteristics of the number plate. This includes visibility, strength and reflectivity. To meet the British Standard, each number plate must be permanently and legibly marked with the
following information.
• The British Standard number (currently BS AU 145d)
• The name, trademark or other way of identifying the manufacturer or supplier
• The name and postcode of the supplying outlet

Oh well, I had a look around and didn't see anything which suggested that it needed to be anything other than the correct font/size/spacing/level of reflectiveness/colour/etc. I don't particularly care anyway, its not like its ever going to be picked up on.

I ran the Polo for over 2 years with plates in exactly the same format.
