You are you insinuating that am racist?

I have friends of many colours and races.

Point is these are economic migrants not desperate refugees. Ok lets say 20% are point is, its a train coming your way soon.

no, yet again I have to explain the fact that you're prejudiced not racist but I think thats beyond you

I've got to get some sleep now but I'll dig up in the morning the posts where you declared how living in a community with muslim immigrants was terrible, there was quite a few. Then you moaned when your thread got locked.

I'd pick dubai or somewhere that people spoke my language where there is no war.
it's amazing a genuine refugee even considers such a choice...

fleeing poverty ? lol send em back they just bring it upon us

people complain about our own needy all the time including our government

Do they bring it upon us?? Feel free to correct me but I was under the impression from a while ago that you were on disability or benefits for something????

As said that was ages ago i remember that from so happy to apologise if it was never true

Tell you what lets move the chess pieces around. ;)

I welcome any migrant into this country if it increases my business and profit.
Lets not be too hasty in stopping these people, we can make money from them and live in bigger houses.

loldowie

What is she doing preaching? What has she got to worry about? Immigrants aren't going to take her job, their not going to move in next door to her multi million pound house in Hampstead.

It's these people that pee me off more than anything. Thompsons always been a major leftie. Proper tree hugging, lentil bake farting, save the world liberal. And to top it off, she's accusing people against immigration of racism. Prat.

lol here here!

Quote that a moaned thread was locked?

Just looked through the media now.

Its just mass hysteria now, it is beyond comprehension.

One kid dies and a picture of his dead body is violated in public view, its ****ing despicable.

No pixelated bodies of children in the media today I see.

Right this will probably be the 500th time I've posted this comment then......

no one is suggesting 'opening up' borders. The UK already has a system in place to deal with genuine asylum seekers but due to current conflict there are more than normal. The only person suggesting TV's and playstations is you.

To increase refuge centres would require public money and time, neither of which the UK has, the UK is seen in the EU as a prosperous nation compared to others hence why they want to come here in the first place.

Now fleeing from war and poverty, you make the trip across the ocean and are presented with a choice of places to live, do you pick the poorer eastern europe or pick a better off Britain?????????
Why is there/should there be a choice of destination countries?

This is ridiculous. If they wouldn't be allowed to choose a new homeland in peace time, why should they suddenly be allowed to choose to live anywhere in Europe as a refugee?

Surely the sensible option would be to put them in the nearest (safe) refugee camp to their homeland, and then send them back when things settle down?

Why should being a refugee suddenly be your ticket to go live in any part of Europe you desire?

Makes. No. Sense.

The emotional language used by the press is really peeing me off. A child drowned. One child! You wouldn't think many thousands die in Africa every day? I'm really not trying to sound callous but perspective seems to be missing. Why are these things only a problem when they are on our doorstep? Or is it out of sight, out of mind?

Indeed.

What bugged me is the way Newsnight when I watched it last night featured her as a major interview, long, leisurely, prominently featured like they were talking to a president or something. In contrast tonights interview via videolink from Hungary about recent events was very rushed and Peston spent most of his time interrupting him and haranguing him about "what does Hungary think its doing?"

n.b the "rascist" card is one thats regularly employed by lefties of all persuasion to try and stifle any debate as this thread will witness.

I thought that Emily Maitlis was going to prostrate herself and start kissing Thompsons feet during that interview. But that's the new Newsnight for you.

Dear BBC, please try and keep your figleaf of non-biased reporting at least reasonably in place.

How do you distinguish between the two groups?

The government's pre-existing and well established Asylum procedure? They claim asylum and get judged if they're in danger in their home countries, if the govmt agree they get to stay, if not they're repatriated.

Or perhaps they don't want to claim asylum because, y'know, they may not actually be entitled to it?

Facebook. Twitter. Once its in the media spotlight suddenly its news. How many died in Syria today? Afghanistan? No pictures, so the media doesn't care barely rates some column inches in the back pages if you're lucky. The media is only interested in sensationalism, and politicians are only interested in making political capital out of it no matter how short sighted. What happens when they get here? Where are they going to live? Do they have jobs to come to? You think politicians actually think that far ahead?!

Thousands have drowned in the mediterranean since this conflict began. It's been reported, nobody gave a crap. The reporting of this particular death might be sensationalist and manipulative but it seems thats the only way to get people to pay attention these days.

Thing is if I point out that people die all the time I'll get lots of moralising "you're awful" or "have a heart" from Joe Public, meanwhile at other times when it's not popular I will actually read about these things and think about these things whereas Joe Pub will have forgotten all about it and be busy watching X Factor and not giving a **** about the rest of destitute in the world.

Just all the transparent news and facebook statuses and tweets from celebrities and that sort of thing is slanging me off and it's like you can't avoid at least some of it.

While that is all a bit extreme I do agree that we are at an odd point where human life has never had such high regard (in the West anyway) and yet never been so abundant.

The real solution comes from sorting out the situation in Syria. I wonder if there was a Western led army response how many of the people fleeing would sign up to fight for their homeland.

Very few, they're getting what they want now.

Aren't people from those eastern countries heading here too? Clearly isn't an easy place to get by.[/QUOTE]

Why is Russia, Syria's great ally not offering to take any and what about all those stinking rich Arab states not wanting to help their brothers? The silence from this lot is deafening.

Maybe something to do with the streets of Germany being paved with Euros is the answer.
