While I am all for helping geniune refugees, The scenes in Budapest are very worrying

Where are the women and children?

All are men, most of them fighting age.

Why is that an issue? What if you don't want to fight? You can hardly be a concientious objector in Syria ATM or left in peace to continue your daily life.

And even if you were prepared to fight - who would you fight for? The Islamic fundemetalists or the State Opressors? What if you want nothing to do with either? How many people have raise the fearful spectre of the refugees bringing thier version of Islamic fendemetalism with them, without recognising that's exactly what a lot of the refugees are fleeing from!

Alluding to the men being cowards for leaving rather than staying and fighting, demonstrates a fundemental (and worrying) misunderstanding of the issues currently facing the Syrian people.

I think you'll find in the actual figures I posted from 2014, we aren't pulling our weight.

I think you will find the net migration to the UK - latest home office figures show we are. Those figures show the whole of Europe plus the rest of the world. People are people, I'm not interested if they are from Syria or Mars.

Has anyone also considered the housing situation. About 120,000 houses were completed last year. What was net migration to the UK again?

This situation just cannot continue.

We are also one of the smallest and most densely packed - no cherry picking now.

We're actually 51st on the worlds population density charts

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...d_dependent_territories_by_population_density

Though admittedly about 3rd in the European one (if you discount dependencies)

We just need to start using those empty areas in Scotland :p

We're not talking about 'immigration' we are talking about 'refugees' there is a distinct difference.

Why is Russia, Syria's great ally not offering to take any and what about all those stinking rich Arab states not wanting to help their brothers? The silence from this lot is deafening.

Maybe something to do with the streets of Germany being paved with Euros is the answer.
lol... Euros ain't all that... when will they realise that!?

I believe if we just looked at England we are in fact the most densely populated in Europe!

hence we ship em all to scottyland. after all wee jimmy cranky keeps saying dave needs to do something :D

seriously though id love to know why its taken the eu to get some sort of meeting together, and why all the un can do is wag the finger saying we need to do more. what ever happened to that peace envoy chap they employed.

I don't think he's worried about them not fighting, he's worried about them fighting for Islamic State in Europe. Remember when IS said they'd send across thousands of fighters as refugees to Europe? Well unlike our politicians IS tend to actually do what they say.

Just using hyperbole like 'Bursting at the seams' doesn't make it a reality, apart from in your imagination.

Where are we going to build this new city the size of Cardiff to accomodate all these migrants? We need to build one such city every year. How do we go about funding and delivering it?

Who has said we need to build permanent cities?

I wonder how other countries are coping with the magnitude of refugees greater than we are taking....

Yes, let's start building a new Cardiff very year to accommodate Muslim armies

lol

These people are the sole responsibility for their own wealthy culture-sharing neighbours, not for the infidels across the sea in another continent.

Well, since the rest of the world has had a hand in destabalising the region, I don't think you're quite right about that. And since we're all linked by the global economy, what happens in these regions affects us anyway.

Also, since the neighbouring countries are taking 95% of the refugees, I think they are taking the brunt of the problem.

For all we know this is an ISIS strategy to get an army in every major Euro country then they call for the uprising and we're ******.

lol

Well alright then, where are we going to build this tent city the size of Cardiff then?

Quite frankly other countries who have taken in the boat people aren't coping at all.

Well you have your view and I have mine. We need to start addressing the problems of our current society before importing more.

The world has been full of hard luck stories since the beginning of time - this isn't the first and it won't be the last.

I am quite happy that the UK is more than doing its bit to help the world. Let's see some other notable exceptions step forward.

You completely misunderstood my point amigafan. I am not saying anything about whether they should stay and fight or not. I am pointing out that there appears to be 99% men of fighting age in a lot of these photos - where are the women and children? If ISIS wanted to send its fighters to europe under the radar, this would seem like an ideal way to do it.
