Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

As soon as you get access to the fulton system, you get access to supply drops, as far as im aware.

I'm only on mission 5. And i've had it for a fair while now i think.

Sort of I think, you need the R&D team to a certain level to research the flare I think.

Flare? I just bring up the idroid, go to the furthest right hand menu, and select supply drop at the top of the list and it gets dropped to whatever location i choose. i've not used any flares yet :p

Also, its worth getting the sneaking suit, makes it a lot easier to go stealth and sneak past guards

I think I'm the only one (or at least the one of the few) who dislikes the sneaking suit, the whole no audible steps thing is nice but I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb as I get the spotted warning sooner and further away. Personally I rather have camo to match and take it slow.

I also did a test last night with it compared to the black ocelot outfit (I forget how I got this?) at night and I was able to get much closer in direct view with the ocelot outfit than the sneaking suit. Which is a bit odd though as the suit is also dark and would be suited for night as well but oh well :\

My problem with not using the sneaking suit is this:
You cant move at full speed while crouching and not get heard. I can't be bothered to moderate my speed if I'm trying to go for a takedown. I guess you just have to play to the strengths of the armour you wear

I thought the sneaking suit would take my espionage game to a whole new level but it turn out black on sand isn't so good for hiding. They didn't need to hear me coming because they could see me from a mile away.

On an unrelated note, the whole motherbase building and setup is a complete mess. Why do I need 1km of road between each section and why do 90% of the walkways and stairs go absolutely nowhere. I have tried doing the side-ops for target practice but I need to learn where each of the targets is because its a nightmare getting around. So often I am doing well until I get stuck on a dead end and waste 30 seconds back tracking.

No idea but on the topic of that and something I learnt last night, if you want to travel between bases really quick, equip a box and go to a loading section. It's a yellow bit of metal to stand on with a sign saying "cargo" something next to it. Option to press triangle (or Y on X1?) will come up and then pick your destination, much quicker than driving and chopper.

Yeah I need to start doing that more because I have probably spent hundreds of thousands on choppers and you take quite a while waiting and faffing to use the chopper.

In fairness it was a bit odd that this got such good reviews. Whilst the gameplay is fantastic, there are many aspects such as the base building, lack of story, pointless transition screens, confused / overlapping fast travel options etc.

It's almost as if they just added features randomly to bulk out what is really a quite simplistic open world stealth game.

You will quickly fill up your base with talentless idiots so once you have the binoculars that give you a minions stats you can plan your extractions based on who is worth it.

Its a bit strange that you get highly skilled scientists and the like who are working as henchmen but I try not to worry about that too much.

One thing I find confusing - the secondary objectives.

On chapter 4, I've gone back to get the secondary objectives (hostages and diamonds), yet when I've got the diamonds from the base it's not registering as complete? When I go to the next base to rescue hostages, they're also not there. I thought it may be because I hadn't gone into the original base to 'start' the mission fully, so went in the mission, did a few things and when I leave it completes the mission and ends.

anyone got any clues? Am I just 'approaching' the secondary objectives wrong? I've tried deploying from the helicopter and starting the mission from free roam.

How do you even discover the secondary objectives? Mine just stay as question marks unless I accidentally do one. Bit of a pain!

Anybody know what the Waiting Room is for? Ideally I want my newly extracted minions to be dropped in here so I can assign them, but the game doesn't seem to use the tab for anything and my minions are always auto assigned. Am I missing an option somewhere to switch this behaviour?

I think it's there for when you have exceeded your capacity, so any extra troops you extract go there until you assign them or expand mother base.
