Nexus 5 2015 refresh

More rumours pointing to a September 29th Announcement and potential release.
Said to start at $400 (Which could be for the base 16GB, If AndroidPolice is correct)
To be potentially know as Nexus 5X

The price seems a bit high but I'm getting the impression that the days of bargain priced Nexus hardware were just a blip on the first couple of devices. I guess maybe Google don't want to upset the other Android phone/tablet manufacturers by releasing a device that makes their models look expensive.

I'm still keen though as native Android is the way to go IMO.

Well out of the Google phones

G1
G2
Nexus One
Nexus S
Galaxy Nexus
Nexus 4
Nexus 5
Nexus 6

only 2 were significantly cheaper at release than high end Android phones.

The Galaxy Nexus was cheap when Google sold it via the Play Store though.

That was a good 5 months after release. I remember because I got it on release. It wasn't particularly cheap when compared to prices at the time.

It would be daft not to buy the extra 16Gb if it's only another $50 IMO.

Not sure what the dollar prices will translate to in GBP. As Cosimo suggested I'm guessing about £300 for the 16Gb and £340 for the 32Gb? Most of the time USD prices tend to very nearly reflect the GBP price so I guess it'll not be far off those figures.

I get that they want to keep the baseline price low but 32Gb should really be the minimum with 64Gb as an optional upgrade these days. Especially on a phone that doesn't have a SD card slot or any kind of removable storage.

I hope they sort out the proximity sensor issue when applying a screen protector. This issue has been present on both the Nexus 4 and 5... so annoying not being able to access the dial pad during phone calls
