The labour Leader thread...

I can't read the word "disgrace" and not picture it in a Daily Mail headline. It's the go-to word of people who talk purely in hyperbole.

If you feel you can judge the amount of respect someone holds for another group based on whether they sing or not then you're weird, sorry.

It isn't simply a matter of respect it is about good manners and knowing how to conduct oneself.

I believe Corbyn was singing - in his head at least, though it was likely to be the Red Flag not our national anthem.

I too felt affronted by Corbyn's demeanour, dress code and the fact he couldn't bring himself to sing our national anthem.

At least I can draw comfort from the fact he will never be PM.

I was at an event recently hosted by a local Christian organisation, they asked everyone to stand and pray.

I stood, bowed my head but I did not pray for I am not religious.

Was I disrespectful?

I think you worry too much about insignificant things.

Of which war?

From a statement released before the commemorations.

Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leader of the Labour Party, speaking on the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, said:

“My mum served as an air raid warden and my dad in the Home Guard.

“Like that whole generation, they showed tremendous courage and determination to defeat fascism. The heroism of the Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain is something to which we all owe an enormous debt of gratitude.

“The loss of life - both civilian and military - should be commemorated so that we both honour their lives and do all that we can to ensure future generations are spared the horrors of war.”

Given that Corbyn is a republican and pacifist (I'm neither), I'd really be far more worried if he did sing the national anthem. Sick of populist politicians not standing up for what they believe in.

I have to say I have very little opinion on him at the moment, am waiting on their views on the economy and taxation with interest. But even so, if you're going to wear a suit with a tie, do the bloody shirt up properly, or just don't wear a tie. Don't go in no man's land and do it all half baked.

LOL the hysteria over not singing a stupid national anthem.

He stood there in a dignified manner and respected the anthem, why the **** does he have to sing?

Thank **** finally for someone who believes in his ideals, not some stupid backdated philosophy of kneeling before monarchy and all that.

Oh dear, you're being serious, aren't you?
Serious? On the veterans thing? Important jobs both, but not veterans to be sure. It was just that was the information he gave on his parents was all.

He's obviously a pillock, but I don't think he was being disrespectful, supported by his earlier statement. I just find it funny the lengths the media will go to distort something to fit an agenda.

The Tories, unlike these Labour quislings, are very respectful of tradition and others cultures. Corbyn is a disgrace. I mean for instance, take John Redwood, he's not even Welsh and at least he tried to sing the Welsh national anthem.

:D

Indeed

I didn't realise the entire purpose of the event was to praise the Queen. Jeez, this is not a big deal. It's ridiculous. This tax credit cut is going to affect millions of people.

Anyone else expecting an uproar when Jez wears both a Red and a White Poppy on Remembrance Sunday? I wouldn't be surprised if The Sun are already on the look out for some offended veterans to feature on their front page the following day.

Got to love this country. Liberty is slowly dying, making way for a culture that oppresses itself.
