All this talk of single speed bikes is definitely making me want to get one :p

I like mine, just the V-brakes bother me no end! if I had front/back vbrakes I'd be dead!

today during the heavy rain the rear literally stopped working, like.. nothing? I could go at 10mph and the brake wouldn't do anything.. thank balls that the front was working fine(love caliper brakes) :o

God it was wet and nasty this morning. Had to break out the winter bike...

:O NO HE DIDN'T, NOT IN THE ROAD THREAD!!

All about the aero-gainz. Lol!

Not sure, but I quite like the look

Seeing it again now, I don't dislike it (but I've always liked loud colours/decals) it's just the stem which makes me think it looks odd. And I'm guessing that's quite a small frame judging by the saddle size? So wheels are 650 not 29"?

Discs an option on a SS? Just weld some carriers onto your steel frame! :D

Pulled something in my elbow yesterday whilst doing some weighted pullups. Super annoying as now whenever I stand up to sprint/start my arm absolutely kills. I think I've already caught fresher's flu too so I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself right now. Blahrgh.

Genesis day one disc is single speed with discs.

It looks good in principle but the execution is off for me.

Cr-Mo frame... yuck, like riding on drain piping
Rubbish gearing... 46-18, too spinny
Sizing... Genesis don't make anything in XS!

Does anyone do a nice alloy (or carbon) single-speed, disc-compatible frameset for a self build?:confused:

genesis seems to be the only one really, there's this -;

which does look sweet but no dealers near me to even find out what the price is ;) and I'd prefer custom

yeah! I mean all I want is -;

SS
Discs
Steel/alu frame
carbon fork up front
drop bars

and I'm a happy man! but it seems like there's no market for them :| so it's easier to go for a geared bike like "the london road" from PX for £800ish notes and be done with it! even tho I enjoy the simplicity of SS yet I can't see my self riding my pompino through the winter with one brake lol.

you've got these two -;

http://www.evanscycles.com/products...BWy3jbB7gJEBtvxBh4gakSUtIfjrBjC2XEaAnBw8P8HAQ

all good but gearing is very off and colour is just what?

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/verenti-iso...|pcrid|67090792262|pkw||pmt||prd|5360631126uk

very cheap but crap brakes, no carbon fork and rubbish gearing once again.

I'm looking again at winter layers as my DHB active thermals from last year will be too big on me. As I'm buying new I'm contemplating padless so I can wear shorts or even other tights in the really cold under them.

From Wiggle/DHB Vaeon Roubaix unpadded bib tights -
This fabric is suited for general UK Winter conditions (8-15deg Celsius depending on ride intensity) but not extreme cold.

Since when have we had 8+ degrees in the winter in the UK? Bloody southerners! ;):rolleyes:

It was 3 degrees here this morning, and it's only just officially autumn! :(

Guess I'm better looking at 'Thermal' rather than Roubaix? Less padless and bib options, but these are on a good sale, anyone else wear waist tights over bib shorts/tights, do they slip down and get annoying? :)

Quiet in here today so I'll continue my spam ;)

Fitted a new chain last night (another SRAM X1 11) and I'd forgotten the beautiful silence accompanied after fitting one... Shame my mudguards have turned noisy! We're due 10+ days here with little/no rain (that's it jinxed!) so I may remove them for a while. When at the LBS I inquired about the new Giant Defy orientated mudguards, they hadn't got them in stock yet but ordered me a pair so they'll come in their next shipment in a week or two.

These are the old Giant Fenders which I had a set of (very noisy, flexible & marked my frame). My LBS had got the new Advanced set in stock but confirmed (spoke to their Giant contact) they're not designed for rim brakes, only disc. They look and feel like plastic not the flexible shiny alloy of the older ones.

The new Fenders look very similar to the old ones with a slight design difference, I'm crossing my fingers the material of the guards is similar to the Advanced in which case that'll be better and (hopefully) silent! :o

Checking my mileage on Strava gear the 'old' X1 11 I changed back in May has 1442 miles in it. The original KMC X11L only did 900 miles so quite nice to see a substantial increase! I'm more aware of cross chaining now and with my larger 11-32 cassette fitted I'm using my little ring more so hopefully will see an increase in miles from the new chain. Although this will be over winter many of the miles will be on the turbo which should be kind to it...

Tested out my Virb whilst riding back into work at lunch. Mounted to the helmet it is a little heavy but not a big deal for commuting (longer rides might suck). For some reason it only recorded 7:45 of the ride, too. It's kind of annoying as I wanted to not look too slow to people so pushed it in the second half and got a KOM...which it didn't even record :rolleyes: :p

I recorded it in 720p30. YT so far only has it in 360p for some reason..I'm assuming it will eventually update.

Planetx do winter tights with no pad, been using them the last couple of winters and it gets ****ing cold here, so they definitely do the job. You definitely want bibs as well - normal waist ones will be crap at keeping the heat in.

Admit it!

You ride a Specialized Allez with flat pedals whilst wearing a hi-viz Altura Nightvision rain jacket (in all weathers), fluro "hump" rucksack cover and Louis Garneau helmet.:p

Good shout & great price! What's the sizing like?

EDIT: lol@PX. 50% off! £14.99! Click on a size and... £29.99. Due in November. :rolleyes:

Have several of them around here. One who even wears high-viz waterproof trousers to go with his high-viz waterproof jacket and pack cover. I bet he's jealous when he spots my high-viz helmet cover! :cool:;)

Haha at the nodding! I bet that'd be me as well... with more swearing.

A set of my dhgate bib tights and long sleeved top arrived today. I'm going to see if I can pop out with the guys later and I'll give them a bash along with my gloves. I was getting real rubbing between my thumb and finger on longer rides. I set my seat back slightly as felt it was pushing me forwards, maybe a slightly longer stem would help too.
