I think many are just baffled on how LG and Samsung do a better job with a Sony sensor than Sony themselves.

i saw an s6 in person yesterday... it's as generic as they come. Screen might be nice, processor might be fast but Id say thats really its only redeeming qualities. It is bog standard and the Z3 design-wise annihilates it

Anyone on here noticed that the Z3 is now coming with the factory applied laminated screen protection films fitted front and rear, like Sony used to apply to the original Z and Z1's, any reason for this? I know the idea is to hold together a broken screen to help prevent cuts, I wonder if the Sony logo is now applied to the film like the Z?

Wish mine came with the screen protectors on from factory. Mine came with screen protectors, but I botched getting em on.

Reason would be ( well logically thinking anyhow) vs scratches. I have no screen protector and my screen is full of scratches. Very easy to scratch glass.

I dont think my g4 is much behind either, its far better than the z3 for sure on auto, the only thing I miss about the z3 is the battery life, but I'm still getting a day and a half anyway so good enough

Yup although it was not small, it was 297MB download and took about 30 mins to finish installing. After it booted back up it also said NFC firmware updated. No changelog but I expect stage fright 2 is patched too.

Don't think so, as far as I can tell this fix is for the original Stagefright exploit.

Pretty big update for an exploit patch tbh, was definitely 297MB, also it has broken tethering on 3!

Had to run the ADB shell command to "fix" it as per previous discussion on this.

just received my xperia z3

first impressions:
1. phone is stunning, feels solid, heavy, really beautiful construction, gorgeous colour and matte finish
2. bought it from Amazon as a UK-sim free D6603 version but the box didn't come with headphones - only charger and cable and phone. Is that normal?
3. The phone comes with front and back screen protectors already installed with 2 cling film covers on top of the screen protectors as well (to be pulled off and reveal the screen protectors beneath). Is this normal? I ordered the phone with front and back screen protectors as I assumed it wouldn't come with any

Also, as a first time xperia owner and first time android user - is there anything I should immediately do?

ok android is thoroughly stressing me out

Why on earth is there like a million pre-installed apps that all seem to do the same thing and can't be uninstalled? I already miss BB10

Does anyone know if there's a comprehensive guide to setting up an xperia z3 - something which details which apps can be deleted and how? and what the others even do?

No need to delete anything just ignore the apps you don't want or use. If you really want to you can disable them, under settings≥apps.

1: Z3 never came in a matte finish!
2: A headset did come with mine (both handsets black and copper). The headset is pants though, so not a worry.
3: Yup, newer batches came with them pre-applied. Maybe newer models also came without headset too?

Yes, install nova Launcher and customise it to your needs

but yes, depending on what PC browser you use, install Chrome or Firefox and log into your sync account. Your tabs, passwords, bookmarks etc will all be cross synchronised now for easy access and convenience. Also install Pushbullet, such a great way to send new tabs, notes, files etc between computers and devices.
