**** The Official Google Nexus 6P Thread ****

I ordered the Frost but after seeing the YouTube video posted above he said it feels plasticlally (even though he thought it was the aluminium one). Thinking I should have ordered the Aluminum one now...

When I go onto the Google store and check order history, all the details are nicely in there but I don't have any trace of a confirmation email. Have checked all my folders including spam, but can't find anything.

Anyone else the same?

So just gave up and bought it. 64GB Aluminum. Nov 3-5. Same issue as this though.

Confirmed on the Reddit AMA that the screen is from Samsung and is their latest generation AMOLED technology. Which seems to indicate the same panel as the Note 5? Here's the Q and A.

Q: Any word on what panel is used for the screen in the Nexus 6P?

SW: It has a Samsung WQHD AMOLED panel. We have spent a lot of time tuning the white-point and color gamut for these panels - hope you will enjoy the accuracy of the display.

Q: What gen is this panel?
Q: This is the million dollar question. Would like to know if it's an older or newer one.

Yep, confirmed: Nexus 6P has the latest generation panels from Samsung. One of things we deeply care for is the quality and accuracy of the display through which all of us connect with the stuff we care about. We created a very tight spec (white-point temperature, delta-E variance, color-space accuracy, etc) for the 6P WQHD AMOLED panel, so it was important that we use the most cutting edge panel technology available.

Link to the AMA for anybody interested.

They also say that they have some plans to further improve the software stabilisation for video. So hopefully the camera gets better in that aspect.

5X is probably there because there is a contract between LG and them that's still valid to produce a nexus perhaps? Otherwise I can't see why they would not have just had Huawei produce a smaller 6P like how Sony have a Compact flagship.... Probably.

Anyway, I'm still not any closer to finding a concrete answer to the fast charging info I am looking for!

The more I hear about the 6P the more I question why Google even bothered with the 5X. It's appalling value for money compared to the 6P.

I don't want a phablet. That's pretty much what it comes down to. The nexus 5x is the right size and is stock android and might only be an incremental step up but I'm happy enough with that.

To be honest I don't think the 5X is as bad as people make out. It's got one of the best phone cameras on the market, fingerprint sensor and it will run smoother than many phones with more powerful CPU's just due to being vanilla Android.

People focus way too much on it having the 808 and 2GB of ram when it will feel faster than many more powerful phones anyway and the other stuff it has is better than many other more expensive phones.

I'v ordered my Nexus 6p in Frost White and 64GB ;) i'm very excited as i will be coming from the LG G2.

But just a weeee bit scared the phone will overpower my not so large hands :D

Still i think Google have done a great job on this phone and i was soooo close in buying the Moto X Style.... so close.

I'm going to make a decision over the next 24hrs on whether to cancel my pre-order or not. Everything I've read so far and some info digging via reddit points to the 6P NOT supporting QuickCharge 2.0 but instead employing propitiatory fast charging via USB-PD on the stock Huawei charger.

There is no fast charging car charger either and each wall charger is £20. So I'd be spending at least £60 on chargers JUST for this phone to charge quickly. The info from the AMA points to news that if a QC2.0 charger is used, the charge rate would be that of standard USB, so quite slow indeed, which is pointless. My powerbank is QC2.0 compatible too, so charging on the go would be a tedious affair on the 6P.

If no new clarification emerges from other comments I've made on reddit, then I will cancel and order the Z5 in Graphite and simply sit with that phone until SD820 hits the market across the board.

The AMA was quite poor IMO, the Nexus team answered a few questions, but many were left unanswered, while others left with vague quick responses without clarification, which kind of sucks.

Here's to hoping for a Sony Nexus device next year perhaps?

You're basing your purchase decision on what sort of quick charging tech is present? Crikey! And I thought my missus was neurotic with shopping! :p

Well yes, because it would be the difference between having to spend an extra £60 (or more if they release an official car charger) and not, just for this one phone. The whole point of QC2.0 is to be universally supported on devices using the latest chipsets. I want that ability for whatever phone I get next.

It's a pretty fair consideration to make really.

+1

Give me the 5x over any other phone on the market.

People always get too hung up on the 'spec sheet list', you had people instantly shooting the camera down based on what the specs were....

Sure it could have been a bit cheaper but still for guaranteed support, fast updates and pure android that is the price you have to pay, I rather have that than a better CPU, GPU, more ram but have to put up with the bloated ugly skins and 6+ month wait for updates if any....

Edit:

Assuming you can get a day of heavy usage with 4-5 hours on screen time, surely is that not good enough, just charge it over night when you are sleeping
