Not wanting to cause an argument here but are you saying the gsync ones are on back order while the freesync ones are freely available? It's quite surprising that considering the price difference, or do you just have more freesync ones in?

Freesync ones are in stock, stock of the X34 is still only covering back orders (guessing this is gonna be one popular monitor in the coming month or 2!!)

I have the ROG Swift, Acer 4k Gsync and the x34 Gsync, the drop from 4k is immediately noticeable but the x34 for me beats the other two screens completely.

Mine has no backlight bleed, OC's to 100hz, has no wakeup issues and the IPS glow is very slight. If you are concerned about a sharp image, 3440x1440 looks great on this size of screen, but is easier on the GPU so you may be happy to up the AA a bit to compensate.

By comparison the Acer 4k feels very limited at 60hz, doesn't offer the immersion provided by 21:9 and the colours on the IPS are much better after calibration.

The thing I noticed the most is the difference in pixel response, going from 1-2 to 5ms is more noticeable, but not quite a deal breaker.

I'm getting ready to sell the 4k monitor as nobody else in my house has a the GPU power required for it and I can't see myself using it again.

The only reason I've kept the ROG Swift is for the games I sometimes play in 3D, which is what got me started on high refresh rate screens in the first place.
 
It's more annoying than anything but I screwed a couple of rack mount brackets to the rear edge of the desk so I could move the rear of the stand further back.

I had to cut a section off the scanner shelf anyway for the 40" that was there before.
 
Going to have to buy this elsewhere now I've missed out on the back orders, the other place have it down as Friday, if it doesn't happen I'll just cancel and re-order from OcUK.
 
Can I request the height measurement from Base stand of the monitor at its lowest height range and highest. Have a TV Wall mounted behind and don't want it blocked off. Thanks

I don't have my monitor to measure as it's being RMA'd, but it can go pleasingly low - I'd not have thought more than 5cm from my desk to the bottom of the monitor at it's lowest. It also goes rather high, I'd estimate as much as 20cm maybe some more clearance from the desk? These are just estimates based on my memory of it though :/ I could be way off :P

Do you know the back orders are up for sure? There isn't an ETA date on the OCUK page for the monitor either. I think I'll give them a call tomorrow to find out.

I'd really like one of these monitors for some Anno 2205 soon :).

Personally yes, I upped Red saturation to around 80% and Green to a bit lower, 65% or thereabouts. I found the screen colour to be be too "cold" for my liking, once I upped the Red especially it felt a lot warmer.

I set Black level to 0 (the deepest black possible) as I like Blacks to be Black if theres any hint of light coming from what should be a perfectly black surface its too washed out/lacking contrast for me. And supersharp has been turned On, can't bear any blurry/smeariness. If I can see the jaggies on a desktop icon thats perfect to me. Don't hide the truth I want to see it warts 'n' all.

I was much happier once I found out how to adjust to suit, awkward OSD controls not withstanding. All this is purely personal preference of course. :)

Did you leave the other colour options just at default max? Like the magenta and what not?
 
im getting slightly obsessed with this thread

could this be the one to not suck with faults?????


my spidey nerd sense is telling me i have a solid 70% chance of getting one with terrible back light bleed / ips glow / gamma / dead pixal / screen wake up combo


disclaimer im not a troll if you've read my previous comments im desperate for a new monitor, i just want to avoid the issues with the new generation of g sync / ips / ultra wide / etc etc gaming monitors with massive qc problems

Might just be my imagination but after about a weeks use I'm fairly sure what BLB there was in the left corners has reduced to a slight glow rather than a couple of brighter spots out of the box.

When I called they had 1 remaining back order to fullfill, the chap on the phone said the next batch would be the 20th.....

all you can do is try it, if theres a problem just send it back and if its a good un then happy days
