What have you done to your car today?

Tried jumping it but just the same result. It struggled to start last week, but not had any issue since. Hoping it's just the starter and not anything more serious.

Can you bump start it? If so, it probably isn't more serious than the battery/starter motor/link between the two.

Did you have the other car running at the time of jump lead start.
(You should do)
Did you have the negative lead on the engine block / head / gearbox (something metal anyway) of the "flat" vehicle
(Again, you should do)

Hopefully just a dodgy battery or dodgy wiring there.

Change both front springs on my Fiesta after one went bang going (slowly) over a speedbump. Saved a fair bit of dough but took me long enough being a newbie to this kinda thing :D

Can't really try bump starting it, as my drive isn't long enough, and the road is too busy.

12.2V is probably not enough - wouldnt start my car at anything less than 12.5v

12.2V is still 60% charged, which I would have though would be ok (I'm sure in the past I have had cars with flat batterys which at least sound like they are trying to turn over - even if slowly)

Yes - Jump car was running - and was my 2.0 Audi, so should be more than up to the job of jumping a fiesta :)

Couldn't see anywhere obvious to clip the negative (other than a grounding point that was difficult to reach), so went for the negative terminal on the battery - not best practice I know, but should have worked.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Came out to it this morning just to get something out of it and the remote central locking didn't work, so assuming something is actually draining the battery.

What were you both doing? Seeing who can go faster by pulling away in 5th? :p

It was from a stop at a red light, I launched at about 4K RPM, foot hard down, clutch fully up, but it didn't catch properly because it is so worn, and I just got a horrible burning clutch smell instead...

Update - mechanic been out and jumped it with his Heavy duty jump starter - ran for 10 minutes but then wouldn't restart.

Advised to get a new battery. Where is best place?

EDIT: Now got a slightly uprated Bosch one ordered from ECP as local places didn't have one in stock today anyway.

*awaits the 'I had to double clutch it home because I raced someone faster than me on my slipping clutch and it finally gave up'

Or the 'the clutch exploded and I need a new gearbox' :P

Michelin Super Sports fitted to the M3 today - looking forward to bedding these in and seeing what they're like! :) Hopefully an improvement from the Falken's that the previous owner fitted!

They will be for sure, but I ran some quick numbers last night as I have PSS at the moment and always liked the AS2s, and I may just get AS2s when I next need new tyres.

PSS full set: £630
AS2 full set: £479

I don't think the extra cost of the PSS equates to a £151 in grip and all round performance gains on everyday roads over the AS2. That and the AS2 has better rim protection lips.

After 2 months ownership and a spill on a roundabout I received the letter from insurers to say it's a Total Loss / Uneconomical to repair :(

tl;dr - I was coming off a roundabout and hit a dip in the road, different road surface plus diesel, spun and hit a barrier/kerb quite hard. Wasn't speeding nor driving recklessly, it was wet, raining and I wasn't going anymore than 35mph at the most. Just happened so quickly I didnt have time to do anything :( Gutted.
inb4 the crash scene investigators arrive - I've found out there have been 3 incidents/collisions on the exact spot I lost mine in the past 10 days.

Just been getting insurance quotes.. Ouch

£900 for a 1.0 Nissan Micra 2001 :p
£2500 for my Subaru Impreza 2008 WRX STI
£1900 Supra Import NA Auto (225bhp)
£1400 Supra UK Twin Turbo Auto 330bhp ish
£1300 Honda Integra Type R
£2400 Honda S2000
£3000 BMW E46 M3

What was it?

I know what you're saying and I would've gone for the AS2 if they manufactured it in 265/35/19 but unfortunately they don't. The PSS came in a total of £25 more than the Continental so it was a no brainer really.

I had the AS2 on my previous car (335i) and they were great.

4th service at Abbey Motorsport (really racking up the miles) - oil change, pollen filter and differential oil changed. So I treated it to a (very) quick wash, too.

08 Subaru WRX STI impreza type uk hatchback.

Which I was insuring for about £900, now £2500 with a claim if I want another one :p

Ouch... my scoob was written off by a white van driving into me... just after I'd finally completed the 2000 miles following a 3200 quid rebuild... following blowing the engine up the same day I bought it... didn't have much luck with that car... lol

I only became free of that insurance burden this year, but it only skyrocketed the premiums for the first year, after that they came back to normal
