** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

My x34's hopefully being delivered tomorrow :), will post a mini review once I've had a chance to mess about with it. Fingers crossed. Las time I tried for a new monitor, both went back :(

You record video.
You screengrab the video.

What is the problem?

My digi cam is old and basic but was to hand and the only alternative is my action camera but that might work better in the dark. That's what I assumed from your post.

Regardless it's a fact that IPS has a certain glow due to the makeup of the LCD panel. VA is generally better and TN is generally the worst for blacks. People reading this thread for feedback just need to be aware it's there. The BLB is also there to some degree and tends to be the trait that varies between panels more, not just this Acer model.

Use the monitor as you normally would and if you don't notice anything then it's good to go.

Maybe a dead pixel check just to make sure.

People get way too tied up looking for any little issue they can when the fact is pretty much all screens have some flaws.

I'm pleased with monitors you can't just return them for anything like you can with TV's at JL. Prices would end up insane (more so than they already are).

The obvious trait are the back lights that may not turn on from cold or sleep. I've now had two of these and for me both from cold on the left would be dark until a signal woke them up. Hasn't happened from sleep for me. Annoying but far outweighed by the monitor gaming features.

Other than that install it and enjoy it as above because the other issues are quite mild on this monitor compared to earlier generations of IPS. If there are obvious defects such as stuck pixels or scan lines they'll stand out and Overclockers are very good with sorting any issues.

TFTCentral has a very good review to read and get the best from the display but if you want to know all is well run the nVidia pendulum demo and the G-Sync mode should be silky smooth both with the fixed fps and 40-60 fps modes selected.

At first I noticed my setup had a slight twitch every few secs but after a couple of driver updates that stopped happening.
