So by that logic human males should start going around killing children they don't like the look of

That is a bizarre leap to make. I didn't suggest we were lions, so why would we aim to mimic their behaviour? I was just pointing out that the fatties who refuse to get healthy will be pruned by natural factors. The life expectancy of an obese person is shorter than that of a healthy bodies person.
I can't believe how narrow minded people can be! There are plenty of skinny people who will end up costing the NHS £1000's because of unhealthy lifestyles. And what about all those super healthy fitness freaks who are constantly attending their GP's due to sports related injuries and costing the NHS £1000's in their pursuit of good health!
I seriously wish the idiots behind this scheme would engage their brain before coming up with schemes like this!
This wasn't an issue until it became the NHS costing money topic. Likewise before the recession. Hardly anyone cared people were getting benefits or squandering money.
We seem to have developed a culture where we all want to be pals. Due to social media. Personally I've never understood the bullying from online. Threats, yes but you can slowly work out where they're bluffing.
Sadly there will always be those that are easily manipulated for the worst outcome.
Ahh yes, hit em in the wallet and see how they react. I'm sure the numbers and figures arguments must be miles long.
Sad thing is whats really costing both of these problems is people milking a system set up with noble intent for their own benefit, if folk wouldn't do that then maybe we could have nice things.
to be fair obesity is a bigger health issue than people playing sport
Your leaders are not any better. It stinks right to the top. I'd love to see all the politicians on performance related pay.
How long, I wonder will it be before stats regarding the cost of treating sports related injuries start to be published and sports people start to be targeted in the same way as smokers, drinkers and the obese!!!

You're probably right, but a few folks I know have cost the health service £1000's as a result of sports related injuries.

None the less, imo it is not the business of the general public to be point this out, it is the governments. Which to be fair they have done, just with a very very soft touch. 5 a day, more exercise adverts etc etc.
you'll probably find that the health benefits from people taking part in sport outweigh the costs of treating people who sustain injuries
ergo it will carry on being promoted as a good thing
Fat people shouldn't exist tbh.
Yes, I have no doubt it will!
But, in the long run (forgive the pun) if people live longer as a result of healthy lifestyle will they really save the state money.
After all, the longer one lives then the greater will be the costs of pensions, treatment for age-related illnesses and care in the community.
That's what worries me about the topic of this thread, its all too easy to attack those who cannot defend themselves - what group will be next?
