*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Thinking of getting the official wireless Sony headset. Fed up using an old iPhone headset for gaming. Anyone using it? Pretty good?

From my experience with it (many many hours on Destiny) it is very good. Battery lasts a good while and not having to worry about wires is a plus.

Watch out for the hinges though, I have read that some people have had issues with the plastic snapping. I don't tend to fold my up so haven't encountered this issue.

World of Tanks Open Beta is out tomorrow for PS4, looking forward to it as am starting to get in to War Thunder again after my Destiny time is getting shorter

yeah, for you ukers it's better to buy from eu stores, because of week euro.

True that. I saved 20 quid the other day buying/pre-ordering a game from French Amazon the other day. I don't think there's much of a charge for conversion from £ to € either. No taxes or any nonsense, I guess it ain't so bad being a part of the EU Union after all.

So having mixed results with the PS TV streaming PS4 games to another room. In my instance I'm using ethernet wired over powerline adapters but even so some games have horrendous input lag. Witcher 3 is especially poor whereas MGS V is pretty responsive. I've checked it’s definitely running wired and also ensured its set to FPS high within the PS4 link settings on the PS TV.

Somewhat underwhelmed really. Has anyone else got the PS TV/could share experiences?

Cheers, Paul.

I sometimes play Destiny over wifi to my Vita and I would call it acceptable. There is input lag but I have found after a few minutes my brain compensates and it becomes perfectly playable. Something like Killzone (which has no Aim assist) was more of a struggle though.

Ultimately it depends on how much you notice it and whether you can zone it out.

I don't have a PS TV so I am only going by the Vita experience.

I use a Sony Tablet with a dual shock controller and sometimes my vita for remote play they both work really well although getting the connection to work can be fiddly at times.
I've even used it at work and streaming over the internet works really well too!
The PS4 is plugged directly into the router which is just a BT Home Hub nothing fancy.

Hmm; perhaps my expectations were too high. Witcher 3 is probably a poor choice anyway as the controls are sluggish when playing directly. I have found that the streaming performance "seems" to be better if the TV the PS4 is connected too is turned off once the console is powered and logged on. Almost as if allowing it to throw a display to the main TV adds to the streaming performance. Maybe I'm imagining it!

*Some* people is an understatement. It is a massive build quality issue with them and a very large percentage of people have theirs break and it's *not* just a result of misuse. It's like the people who say their DS4's are fine because they take care of them. That's not really the main problem. These people are just getting lucky.

I have a wired pair(Silver headset) and I can totally see how they break. I also feel they are way too tight on my head. But they do sound pretty good for closed headphones, even if prefer open. The price of the wireless headphones are just too much for a product that has a good change of breaking within a year or two(or less) for me to recommend them.

Oh? Well I guess I'll wait till its out then.

I just realised I never redeemed my code for the extra Dreadful Crimes missions that come with the PS4 version! I just installed it now. Gives me 10 more missions to do before I complete the game :D

if sony or ms don't have any say then how do publishers justify charging more for a digital copy over a hard copy.
I just a bought PS4 and it came bundled with 3 games: GTA V, Fifa 16 and Last of us remastered.

For it was a huge shock to realize that I can't play without the discs. Imo physical games are strictly inferior to digital downloads. Now i have lift my butt from the sofa every time I want to change the game and i'm afraid that one day i lose or break one of the discs.

Coming from pc+steam this reminds me of the times about 10 years ago (this is my first console ever). Time travel backwards in time... Except that on PC i was always able to get a no-cd crack from internet to remove the need for optical media, in more like 15 years back in time or so.

I understand that some don't agree for me, but I will for sure pick digital downloads whenever possible, given choice in the future.

Digital is great in theory but its almost always more expensive and cannot be sold on if you don't get on with it. The prices in general are far too out of whack for me to consider as a serious option still.

Black ops 3 for example I just bought for £35 and its £55 on the store. Mental.

I just wish that once we owned a disc, we could assign that copy of the game to our PSN account, so that even if the disc is out, we could still play the game.

Its also stupid the Playstation store will still let you buy digital copies of games you already own discs for, even if its inside the console at the time. You'd think it would recognise you already own the game.

Just found out game saves are region locked? I was considering buying the Bloodborne GOTY from the US store, but apparently I wouldn't be able to use my old UK based install/save game :/

What are you doing between removing the disc from the case and inserting it into the console (or the reverse) that has you legitimately worried you'll lose or damage a disc?

It'd be incredibly difficult to sell/trade games or even get refunds if that was the case though, which is what caused all the fuss when MS said they intended to do a similar thing.

Yeah it's total swings and roundabouts. The only way I justify paying console game prices to myself is by selling most of them on after completion to recoup some of the cost. But then I get annoyed every time I have to change a disc.
