I'm at about 3500 I think. My busiest year yet, thanks to commuting. If all goes to plan next year I'll do about 5000 miles just in commuting miles

I'm over 1500 miles down compared to this time last year :(

I'm 500 miles down on the total for last year. The last few months have been a disaster for me.

I finally got out yesterday on my day off, but then 5 mins into the ride I received a call which resulted in me needing to return home. Everything has been conspiring against me it seems.

20 odd miles in the last 7 weeks. Useless.

Ouch, that does sound annoying :/

I've been ill and had time off due to other things but I didn't realise I was quite so far behind. I was hoping to at least hit 9000 miles but that would involve another 1000 before the end of the year and with illness and my turbo getting another puncture (!!!!!!!) I'm just really lacking in motivation.

Yep yep, I sympathise. I love cycling. Absolutely love it. But if you just get out of the routine for a few weeks, it is tough to get back into the flow of things.

ayyyyy 5000 miles this year ticked off :) Will be a bit worse next year, I'm too lazy to cycle to gym so I drive now :|

Congras on the 5k, was that one of your aims?

'Lazy' is the bane of driving and miserable weather! The novelty will soon wear off once the bills for running a car start flooding in! ;)

on that note, I perform way better in cold.

You're probably still fairly fresh from your rest week/holiday!

Unrelated note: Got buzzed by an idiot in a white van earlier. I've had similar before but not normally this close... Signalling to turn right into work from an A road. There is more than enough space for cars to undertake so I'm pretty much in the middle of the road with my arm out and fairly used to them doing so. I can hear an engine ramp up behind me in the distance and I shoulder glance (just as I start to turn) and this idiot is overtaking me! He's around 10 meters away accelerating towards me! Thankfully he's not doing more than 30 mph when I see him (and I'm doing less than 5mph as its a sharp turn) so I was able to check my turn before he flattened me. Cue some colourful name calling and waving of arms!

Fingers crossed I've got him on my camera to get his reg (???? LEE or LEA) as I'm quite tempted to report him. He was going slow enough (tight <30mph corner 10+ yards before) and his engine note didn't ramp up until after I'd begun (3-4 seconds) signalling.

We've had 3 car accidents in the same spot since I started here 5 years ago and a cyclist was killed in the same spot 10 years ago. The council still refuse to move a 30MPH speed limit sign less than 15 yards to cover the spot... Still plans are afoot to put a new road through as part of a bypass - bet it won't be for 10 years! It took them 34 years to build the last one...

I think I might be under 1000 miles this year due to my knee.

Edit: actually no, that's crazy, because I have been maintaining riding to work at least once week and that's a 20 mile round trip. Earlier in the year I was averaging 2-3 times a week so I'm probably around 1400-1500 miles. WAY down on normal.

my turbo getting another puncture (!!!!!!!)

LOL! You have the worst luck! Same tube as last time? Worth investing in tougher tubes? Which are you using?

It's gonna be hard work, but I might actually be able to get the Rapha Festive 500 strava badge this year!

I'm tempted by this as have 14 days off over xmas & new year. Although 3 days of that is out (visiting family & boxing day) so doubt I'll be much over 350km. I guess it all depends on the weather and if Zwift counts!? ;)

As per yearly miles, I've not done 'normal' before so the ~3500 I'll do will be my target next year (4000 is a nice round number!). I only did 1650 miles in 2014, almost all commuting.

Are you using a proper turbo tyre?
I just use old road tyres and they get pretty hot. When I swap them it's like the tubes have melted slightly onto the inside of the tyre - never actually punctured one though.

The melting thing is probably it. I need to get a proper turbo tyre I guess. From what I can tell it seems like the rubber around the valve has failed.

edit: No idea on the tubes. They're probably like three years old :p

Think I've done a similar amount of miles compared to last year, but I've been out less due to weather / work :( Need to get back on my turbo again though and get a bit of fitness back cos its been a couple of months since i was last out.

Canyon 12 days is helmets and glasses discounts up to 62% reduced. Couple of Giro, POC, & Bell helmets and Uvex glasses. Best glasses deal is now sold out but the others are still good prices.

Spotted this one on Wiggle - Shimano 5800 11-speed chain for £13. I personally use SRAM X1's which are almost twice the price, but I get 40% more miles out of them. Although for that price I'm tempted! :o

The size 42 Sidi Kaos shoes I'm after came in stock, guessing they had a delivery as the 25% off them ended at the same time! Gah! £154 now, were £131 but out of stock on Monday! One day! THEY WILL BE MINE! :D

4280miles for me so far this year. Can probably push for 4500 which will be about 500 up on 2014. No commuting miles for me so I can't complain when I have a wife, two youngish kids and a fairly demanding job. Depending on the weather I'd like to have a bash at the Rapha 500.

According to veloviewer 787 of those miles are on the turbo!!!

I want to do 5000 miles next year. Hopefully I will, especially if/when it gets light enough to commute to work in the light... that'll be miles saved in the car, too :D

Meh, people get precious about FTP figures. Although I didn't get round to testing my FTP again the workouts seemed pretty much of a muchness when I moved from virtual power to 'real' power.
