That's it. I'm caving and buying horizons. Best way to do it if I just bought the regular version on steam?
Just bought? as in recently?
The only way to buy Horizons is from the FD website, it is quite literally the only option.

That's the trap being sprung. The moment I approached his dropped cargo (Palladium) and opened the cargo-scoop three blips appeared on my scanner close enough that I could've spat at them and I was insta-popped.
The theory being that no one player would ever be rich enough, but a group who formed a faction (or joined one) that got large enough still could, as above, if they pooled enough resources. Not even in theory, you cannot do it in game, though what can and has happened is community groups having FD put them into the game as factions and a couple (I think) of stations have been constructed off the back of community desires.
It will likely be on sale again for the Christmas Steam sale in a couple of weeks. And with how much it costs it would be an expensive gamble.
I dunno what to do. I am intrigued though.
Not sure where they are but that would most certainly stop them from firing, deploy hardpoints and use the external cam to have a look, or look where they are in outfitting![]()
First reaction:
There's an external cam?!?
Second reaction:
Great idea, thanks! (And I need to work out how to use the external cam!)
I think the final realisation it was due to hardpoint placement was when I was trying to figure out why I couldn't reproduce the problem when firing without actually in a fight - lasers working fine then. I was trying to think what the difference was, and it occurred that I was only firing straight forward.
Isnt the external cam more a debug tool? I dunno why FD dont put in proper external cam placements, missile cam, mine cam, probe cam etc etc.
@Dano
How tempted were you to to press the trigger button?Did you not think about doing a flyby? (top gun style)
A searchlight type light would come in handy there as well.
Beam Lasers and Multi-Cannons, mostly. What weapon combos do people use and find good? I was on all lasers before I swapped one out for a cannon because I wrongly thought I had a power issue.
It started that way but FD decided to officially let us have it, so we can make a million Wallpapers for ourselves with it!Isnt the external cam more a debug tool?
Generally, cams on things that are not your ship endanger you. Even in the Debug cam, you have no control over your ship and in some cases, you could get utterly blatted before you can switch back and gain control quick enough to avoid it.I dunno why FD dont put in proper external cam placements, missile cam, mine cam, probe cam etc etc.
For many players, the scanner takes a while of getting used to, whereas a wider field of view and a crosshair is basic arcade combat. These are not arcade games. They're very resistant quoting unfair advantages over those using cockpit view, something that after considering for a while I think they are wrong on, the scanner and target holo being incredibly powerful that external views are not going to make much difference.

I suspect they also want to avoid being compared to Star Conflict or Freelancer in any way.
Generally the people who want external-view flight, so they can fight with a wider angle, or in some cases an all-round view of their ship... which *would* give an unfair advantage .Who said anything about crosshairs?
What, you mean like just the fixed angles SC/Arena Commander has?Just external views fullstop, not external combat views.

Ahhhhhh, I thought you were talking about playing from the rear-view perspective!!I was thinking more along the lines of flyby and a more fluid version of what we have now a bit like the F2 and F3 camera's from the original IL2 series.
