** Star Wars Episode VII - SPOILERS WITHIN **

Can we be done with spoiler tags please mods?

For the love of The Force - this. It's like having conversation under the table in all directions.

Anyway, until then:

Good shout on the timeline thing. I'm not buying that Rey is Luke's grandchild, bit when they say " an apprentice turned against Luke" it doesn't mean he was young and being trained when he did. He could have left the training, been trained by the big hologram guy, and returned years later to wipe out Luke and all the young Jedi. That would explain the Ren kit in the flashbacks and aligns things nicely. No closer to explaining who Rey is though, or why she can't remember any of it if it is the case.
Well, she's definitely Skywalker because Star Wars is Skywalker saga

With that in mind:
a) She's extremely good pilot (intuitively), she's excellent with techy things, she's down with The Force/The Force is strong with this one
b) The sabre triggers memory/Force vision, she has personal attachment to that sabre
c) Leia and Han are oblivious to her presence, so she's not their kid
d) She's too old to be Kylo's kid.
e) She has little Xwing pilot doll from her childhood and Xwing's pilot helmet (although many a junk could be found on that planet)

Just thought i'd add btw, there's a major point that everyone seems to have missed here.

Kylo Ren is called Ben by Han. Luke Skywalker's son is called Ben.

Leia and Han had Jaina and Jacen (twins). Jacen went darkside. Either the entire starwars history has just been rewritten or Kylo is Lukes and is seen as a son by Han and Leia.

Extended universe is completely thrown into the bin with the new trilogy.

Han says to Leia "I saw our son Leia, I saw Ben".

Yeah in the movie I was like... I'm sure he's just called him Ben. But then I thought maybe he said Ren.
Also the extended universe was removed from the Star Wars canon when Disney bought it. So everything you think you know about post-RotJ before Disney took over is wrong.

edit: beaten to it^

Watched it. Enjoyed it. Going to see it again with the kids, in 2D at a normal cinema, not the IMAX I did. Solid 8/10 but felt a bit like a remake/reboot of A New Hope.

About Snoke:
Did anyone else feel a little underwhelmed with Snoke? He's the only real worry for me looking ahead to Episode VIII, which considering the task JJ Abrams had, is remarkable really. I just wasn't impressed with what I saw.

Admittedly we're shown very little, and they quite obviously want to keep him a secret, but there was just something lacking, perhaps it was the CGI that didn't help the character much. His design, the way he moved and spoke, it felt so false. The dialog between him and Kylo/Hux was just... I don't know, he didn't feel very special considering his position and his obvious connection to the dark side.

I know I'm jumping ahead of myself, but I really do wish they solidify his character in the next episode and don't use that CGI if they can get away with it.

I honestly thought I was watching a harry potter movie at that point

I think the CGI was an issue with both his character and Maz. It certainly took away some of the power of Snoke, as he looked so fake. He could have been out of a game for me. Maybe I need to watch LOTR again, but I'm sure Gollum was done better than some of these characters. Considering the technical excellence throughout these moments really jar.

Edit to add... seeing it twice yesterday, once in 3D and once in 2D I think the 3D added next to nothing in this film, and I like 3D... the only moment that really stood out (ha- blooming- ha) was a shot of a Star Destroyer that looked amazing in 3D, along with the sabres amid the trees... otherwise nothing stood out (oh dear :o ) in the 3D version.

I personally loved how raw/aggressive Ren's use of the Force was. Came across as very powerful yet not totally trained. Here's to him becoming a badass in the next 2!!
