** Star Wars Episode VII - SPOILERS WITHIN **

Positive:
Good characters - Rey was fantastic, Finn was good, I loved BB8 and Po was a decent character. KR was very interesting - looking forward to seeing how the character develops.
Also some good music and great action.

Negative:
Really really poor predictable rehash of a plot. However I like the way it's "fixed" the sunshine and rainbows ending of RotJ bringing in a very dark, sombre element to the whole story.

Overall good film, 7/10.

I liked Po, he's got a little bit of the Solo spirit to him.

Agreed - given the years they'd been together, Chewy's rage at Han's death should have been made a lot more of, especially in light of how angry he got in ESB when Han was about to be carbon-freezed. Instead, all we got was a few roars, a bit of laser fire and later, an admittedly moving shot of the big guy with his head in his hands

Totally agree..
.chewy reacted like he had been stung my a stinging nettle...

Refreshing to see you haven't been blinded by nostalgia...:)

I'm not such a fanboi that I can see no wrong in the SW movies, however I'll make no apologies for enjoying this one as much as my 8-year-old self did ANH all those years ago :)

Actually, in a TFA thread on a totally different forum, somebody pointed out that Chewy shoots Kylo with his crossbow, wounding him in the process - had forgotten about that. The power of Chewie's crossbow had been hinted at throughout the film, with Han's frequent requests to borrow it.

Even so, I just think an enraged wookiee, especially one who's just seen his lifelong friend killed, would have reacted with a lot more primal violence than was depicted.

What? I'm struggling to follow your thought process here? You say that because Episode 7 relies on Episode 1 to 6 then it means it can't be a better film than 1 to 6?

So any film that needs a previous film to exist cannot be better than a previous film, is that your point? So Episode 4 is the best Star Wars. Philosophers Stone is the best Harry Potter, Godfather is the best Godfather, Rocky is the best Rocky, The Fellowship of the Ring is the best Lord of the Rings, etc?

He was doing that already...if solo had of lived he would have still done it....it's the immediate reaction at fault here....poor writing and direction..

I would have thought the logical thing would have met back where they had initially entered the building, like he said, leave then use the remote trigger to detonate when they got outside. I VERY much doubt Solo would have detonated it with him still inside.

His reaction was Shoot Kylo Ren, shoot a bunch more Stormtroopers then detonate while he is still in it.

Having just walked into the "What film did you watch last night" thread, and walked straight back out. I've decided easyrider is just being an arse for the sake if it so I'd encourage people to avoid conversing with him about a film he clearly hates.

Look at the evidence....

Pick any film?

Is back to the future 2 better than 1?
Is rocky 2 better than 1 ?
Is godfather better than 2?

Nope...

Is Alien better than 2?

Of course there are exceptions...as ALL LOTR film are bad as each other...

Ghostbusters 1 is better than 2
Grease 1 is better than 2

I could go on forever....

I don't hate TFA....it's just not very good. It certainly doesn't live up to the hype...it's a 3 star movie...it's an ok Starwars film...it's mediocre...it's a solid offering...but it's not great not good and not the best SW film ever under any circumstances...it's just not...
