What have you done to your car today?

Yesterday I attacked pa's new winter car with a pop riveter.

He's bought a '68 Land Rover Series IIA. The removable hard top has a hinged stay for the tailgate and the clip that it resides in was knackered and letting it clatter around while he's driving, so we riveted a new one on. I've also made some footwell mats out of old carpet and underlay (more as insulation and sound-deadening than anything else), replaced the drivers side wing mirror with a larger one, and I'm now plotting the replacement of the voltmeter (non-working) and ammeter (fire hazard) panel with one that has just a voltmeter along with a 12v lighter socket and powered USB ports.

Went for an early Christmas morning drive, pulled out of the services with some friends and within 30 seconds heard an almighty whack.

Have heard of horror stories regarding Autoglass replacing the screen (Conscript and mrk) but thankfully there's no crack so this won't be needed. Anyone used them for chip repair?

Whatever you do, get it looked at quick - I left mine a couple of weeks and the resin "didn't take" - the guy said it was probably due to dirt/grit getting in.

Conscript's bad experience wasn't Autoglass, get it repaired sooner rather than later.

Whoever did the work on Robbie's car needs a slap, I've never once broke the skuttle or clips on an E46.

The E9x is one of more enjoyable cars to replace, at least for me

I've only ever once managed to actually get a 'chip repair' and all it really did was stop the screen cracking, which I guess is the point. The presence of the repaired chip was annoying.

That's more so the point, depending on the type of chip then some will improve visually better than others, that one of Voxs should improve quite substantially

This, it was AutoWindscreens I had the trouble with. I asked my insurer if I could go to Autoglass as the former were completely incompetent, they then put me through to Nationwide Motorglass, who were excellent.

My tale of bad luck today is with the X-Trail. This morning, the tyre was all but flat - puncture near the inner sidewall. Nowhere is open today to get it replaced. No problem, I can live with the spare for a couple of days, I thought. Except, on getting the spare out (which is a full size alloy) and pumping it up, there's air leaking from the bead; the wheel isn't in the best state, there's plenty of paint flaking off, so I guess the seal has corroded somewhat.

Bugger :/
Hoping to be able to get it done tomorrow, then I'll find someone who can refurbish the spare and refit the tyre to it. Keep an eye on your spare people; I don't think I ever checked ours, now it's come back to bite me :p

Just went out for a little Joy ride to stick some charge in the Battery & give the discs a little scrape, Chuffed to bits with my choice of car though. :p +

My windscreen is coated in RainX, is there anything I need to do before the repair?

I've never actually been given an official solution, if I notice the pitfill pulling away with the Mylar after curing then I give them a good rub over with Acetone and reapply and give it another curing with the lamp.

The best think I can think of is a rub over with some Acetone or IPA

Cleaned the interior and checked the fluids ready for its 250 mile round trip to Heathrow and back. Also used a scratch remover on the rear panel where my mother scratched it :(

Started the Golf for the first time in god knows how long, still starts that's good.

Still looks like crap, doesn't have an MOT and I really want to start driving it as my Polo has no go.. You ask for power and it laughs at you, under steer if you go above 30, tyres screech round every corner if you have more than 2 people in the car. Who puts 155/45/15's on a car!? They are useless!
