Mazda RX8 - anything else like it?

anyone had any dealings with hextable rotaries?

seem to have a large number of cheap compression tested rx8s in stock

The RX8 never made sense to me.

The RX7 looked great and went like stink and you could forgive its engine problems purely because the performance it produced.

Then came along the RX8 and it had 4 doors? Ok, Mazda made it practical which pulled it down from a Sports coupe to a a 4 door coupe. My thinking was they would have certainly have perfected the Wankel engine.

Unfortunately not, it is still the basket case of reliability it has always been but with now more complicated electronics.

I love the RX7 and the RX8 but would never own one. They are just a lottery of reliability every time you turn the key.

Having a new RX8 under warranty and before it has had a chance to throw every component must have been great.

I live two minutes down the road from them. They hire the forecourt of my friends garage. They normally have about 20-30 RX8's in stock and they all look very clean. From what I gather they buy them dirt cheap, make sure the engine is sound then add a chunk on top.

This is the forecourt that the hire which is jam packed full of RX8's!

would like to hear how op is getting on with his rx8. noticed he has not added anything since posting about buying one.
was looking at them before i got my ST220 and still sorta want to buy the 231bhp model to tick off my list even if its only for a few months. They still look really good but all horror stories just put me off. If i could get one cheap enough private i would take a chance as it could just be scrapped off if something major breaks.

Don't. I moved from an ST220 to an E39. It's the only acceptable progression for the discerning gentleman on a limited budget. :p

Edit/ I do agree with the first part of your post though, would be good to get feedback from the OP.

I love my St220 had it nearly 3 months now its great for my motorway commute but feels a little boring sometimes. Even though its very quick when floored the fact its such a big car means it doesn't entertain me like a car with over 200bhp should.
With me doing 1k miles a month and it having 83k on when i purchased it i might sell it on around Christmas while its still easy to shift and was scouting round again at other cars mainly the RX8 as there peanuts to buy.
trouble will be finding a car that will put a smile on my face and have seats as comfy as the Recaro's in the ST220

I'm seriously considering picking up an RX8 R3 next year. I've done quite a bit of research so far and I think the R3 certainly appeals the most to me. Since changing jobs I don't drive to work anymore and so I can have a weekend toy. Anyone have an RX8 at the moment and particularly an R3 it would be great to hear from you.
