Why does Lego Technic appear to be more cheaper than normal Lego?

Mercedes Benz truck is about £170, whilst the Marvel Hellicarier for example is £280!?

Anything Licensed is more expensive - Marvel Super Heroes, DC, Starwars etc..
e.g. for the price of the Batman Tumbler you can get the largest Technic set - Mercedes-Benz Arocs with moving parts.

I picked up the Pet Store last week for £100 (120rrp), 2000+ pieces. If you work out number of pieces vs costs, that's a little under 6p a piece, most licenced sets works out around or near 8-10p a piece.

Just received my third architecture set - Farnsworth House. That one is also one of the discontinued one so had to pay £100+ on Ebay from the US (once you factor in postage and customs). Works out at 20p a piece!!! Glad it's the last one I wanted in the series (for now).

Surely the Mercedes-Benz Arocs would also be licensed?

I finished all the ones I bought a few weeks back. I can easily see myself getting carried away with technic sets, but I think I will buy 1 more!!

I haven't built the Falcon yet (saving that for a few weeks time). Still need to attach the tracks to the bulldozer, but after that I might buy the Mercedes Truck.

not tempted to do the remote control conversion for the 24hr car than?

tbh, first time I have touched Lego in over 20 years! I think mods and stuff is way beyond how much time/effort I can put in!

At best I was thinking about buying the power pack recommended in this set, but that just powers the door and boot mechanisms and lights. I sense the full conversion to make it an RC would cost a lot and need many more parts.

The Mercedes truck comes with some motors, I wonder if they can add anything to the 24hr Car to save me buying the power kit?

I like the look of the 24h car. I just wish it wasn't green.

I guess the stickers may help, but I am undecided (haven't applied them to the other technics either).

It was a lot of fun to build (I have a hand injury at the moment so only used 1 hand to build it!!!). Took about 6-8 hours over 2 days.

Just ordered the Mercedes truck on Amazon :D

You are all doing Lego wrong, you should build the item, then play with it, then progressively lose all the pieces and smash it up until you end up with a giant tub of random Lego.

The big Technic sets a large % of the pieces are the bags and bags of Technic pins. In a large model you can get 6+ bags of them!

Imagine if your SW set came with 6 bags of black 2x1 plates, I am sure you would be annoyed if you were paying 10p per piece!
