Deadpool (2016)

I saw this last night and enjoyed it, however I had the following annoyances:

1) The movie isn't as funny as it thinks it is. It just tries too hard on occasion and while some dialogue is sharp and perfectly times, some jokes feel less natural and shoe-horned in. I think that they took it a notch too far in the cockiness stakes and that affected my suspension of disbelief, if it had been toned down a little it would have worked better for me.

2) Colossus was a colossal fail... I mean seriously, who the **** thought it would be a good idea to portray him like that? The Russian accent in this movie sounded rubbish due to the lines he was given, and while I get the were trying to give him the "preachy, boy scout" persona, it was not even remotely done in a cool way. He was lame.

3) Angel Dust's powers were exaggerated to the point where it also spoiled suspension of disbelief. Her comic persona was nothing like the movie, and if we are to believe that her powers also came through human experimentation then is it really feasible, even by marvel standards, that she then has the strength to toss Colossus around like a rag doll and survive multiple massive punches (he can lift 70 tons) from him? Meh, it just seemed a bit overdone to me.

So while I enjoyed it overall, I would give it a 7.5/10 for making me notice that stuff.

how can anyone seriously rate it as 10/10 and say things like best film ever?

It's pretty easy to understand if you have ever seen people's opinions on movies, they are often erratic and vary wildly. Plus people have varying levels of taste and expectation. Human nature.

What happened to her (Angel Dust) at the end of the film, Last scene I saw her in was under Colossus arm being carried out but then nothing after that?

Mod - Edit - Can you please be careful of posting spoilers. please use the spoiler tags. Thanks you

Just came in here to hear some opinions from a crowd I would normally trust to be bombarded with spoilers....come on now it isn't THAT hard to spoiler it surely.

The one above me is a stinker !!

See ?

1) it's true to the comics, he speaks through the fourth wall, he is OTT that is Deadpool. It is entirely true to character so it isn't a failing of the film, just not to your tastes.

2) Colussus pretty much throughout marvel (bar the odd few portrayals) is always a sanctimonious douche and a good two shoes and he is a naturalised Russian who moves to America. This is probably the "truest" portrayal of his character to date.

3) I don't really know the Angel Dust character so can't really comment, it was a good fight and worked so I'm not hugely fussed.

I did find the main story (if you ignore any backstory stuff I mean) a little short but considering the budget limitations as it was viewed as a risky project they nailed it. Be interesting to see what they do with a bigger budget. Just hope it doesn't go Expendables and sacrifice what it's about to make even more money in a sequel.

It's been out over a week, your own fault for looking in a thread at something you haven't watched yet.

Well...

1) What works for dialogue in a comic is not necessarily what works in a movie as it is a completely different delivery method and there about 100 other factors to consider. The cockiness was good, but they did occasionally, imo, overdo it beyond the (already high) level needed to keep it feeling cool and smart. It was OTT OTT.

2) Sanctimonious pleb he may be, but doesn't change the fact they did it in an awful way. It was, imo, very lame with bad dialogue and delivery.

Anyway, it was nevertheless a good start to a potential franchise and I hope they put some good budget into Deadpool 2 and further refine things.

If you walk into a film thread after its been released, seeing spoilers is entirely your own fault.

Let's do away with the spoiler tags entirely then ? Why even have the option there ?

Clearly some people posting in this thread get that posting spoilers isn't cool...you can discuss a film without posting spoilers all over the place.

We do in a lot of threads. Star Wars being the main one.

If you enforced no spoilers or always spoiler tags in threads post release date, either the thread would die with nothing but the odd "Going to see this tonight", or it becomes a mass wall of spoiler tags like having a secret under the table conversation.

You came in here knowing the film was out, knowing there would be spoilers, got annoyed because you saw some spoilers, and have then stuck around in this spoiler filled thread to complain about there being spoilers! Thats rather silly. Lol

General guidelines:
1) Try to use spoiler tags as appropriate and put it in the thread title if you’re expecting spoilers to be posted in it, it may matter less now but it is still courteous to not deliberately spoil it for others.
2) Please do report if people are breaking the rules as the moderators cannot notice every single rule break without help.
3) If you go into a thread then don’t be too surprised if there are spoilers in there based on the release schedule in that country.

Like I said, it isn't a spoiler thread, it doesn't say spoiler in the thread title so guess what....use spoiler tags. I'm not being silly at all...

Have a word.

Strictly speaking probably should be in spoiler tags but at the same time exercise a little common sense? Been a couple weeks since the film came out. First week you'd expect things in spoilers, later on folk are going to want to start discussing what actually happened in the movie. Short of starting a second, redundant thread, you can't really do that properly without using spoiler blocks all over the shop.

OMG your now even deliberately opening Spoiler tags in this thread!!

Your point is null and void. Your fabricating your own situation so that you can complain about it.

Ditto on this, omnomnom is behaving like a plonk. To expect no spoilers in a movie thread almost 2 weeks after release is naieve at best and stupid at worst. Just don't read a thread about movie after its been released until you see it because let's face it, why would you really need to unless you want to discuss it?
