Dell S2716DG - Dells first G-sync

ordered mine today, was tempted to push the boat out for the acer IPS or ASUS but with so many people running into issues I went for this.

Coming from a Benq XL2411T so lets hope I see an improvement :)

Indeed, appreciate the effort put in to writing that up :)

The SW Battlefront screenshot is perfect for demonstrating the interlace-pattern artifacts issue I was seeing. If you don't mind me saying, I personally feel you're downplaying it, but I understand that some people may not be bothered.

I wonder every panel is affected to the same degree, or if some are worse than others.

Well it's just one of those things that some people really don't notice/care about but that really bugs some people. I don't think it's right to emphasise that it is going to be a problem. I've done that sort of thing in the past and I know it puts people off unnecessarily. I really urge people to try this one out and see for themselves.

From my experience with several PG278Qs and this issue, the severity does vary somewhat. But it's always there to a degree.

WOW what a detailed review  cant wait to get home now and try this monitor out :D

How long did that take you to right?

A while, just slowly been cracking on with it when I've had the time. :)

I came from the same monitor and I'm more than happy with this, Gsync is great :)

Something not right so can't get monitor above 120hz and also in BF4 there's bad screen tearing??
I will re-install the graphics drivers and see what happens.

back in a mo.....

NCP

Monitor tech = G-Sync
single display max performance
prefer max performance
preferred refreash rate = highest available
V-sync = off

V-sync should be on in NCP and off in the game settings.

Oh really?? thought i read G-sync overrides V-sync

I will try this thank you

If you have VSync set to 'Off' then the frame rate will climb as high as it can, inducing tearing if it's above the refresh rate of the monitor. G-SYNC only applies where the frame rate is between 30 - 144fps (or 120fps in your case), above that VSync comes into play (or doesn't) depending on your settings. And just as a point of interest, G-SYNC does try to include multiples of the frame rate for the refresh rate below 30fps as well regardless of VSync setting.

I recall there is something a bit weird about how the GTX 770 handles the DP 1.2 signal. Giving it lower bandwidth than should be supplied. This might be why 144Hz is not selectable for you at 2560 x 1440. What happens if you create a custom resolution for 2560 x 1440 @ 144Hz, out of interest?

Don't forget the biscuits. :D

I best put the kettle on :D

edit -

But it certainly doesn’t cut back on those more appealing gaming features, with a potentially very responsive TN panel, 144Hz refresh rate and support for a trio of Nvidia technologies; G-SYNC, ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur) and 3D Vision.

3D Vision is supported? I guess I will find out later in the article

PCM2 confirmed its 3d capable. from tft central because I cannot find the darn link:

"PCmonitors.info have confirmed that the screen does support 3D Vision after all!"

Ok so disregarding the 144hz or lack of, the G-sync works a treat BF4 is very smooth i,m used to 120/144hz but the G-sync has added even more to the game it's quite incredible to look at/play though i spend half my time being killed as i keep looking around :D

I have downloaded the ICC profile and that's made a big the difference to the image thank you PCM2 for talking about that in your review.

ok one more game of BF4 :)
