Finally got an answer from Wiggle about my returned Turbo, and it's a pile of crap:

"We are currently unable to locate the trainer even though this was signed by someone in the warehouse on the 18/02/2016, this has been escalated to our returns Manager and this will be looked into shortly."

Amazing. It's taken two weeks of me chasing them for them to tell me they've lost the turbo - and they still won't refund me until they've done some more looking.

Can you do a credit charge chargeback?

I know 2 people personally who have the gen2 and nothing but hassles constantly amongst constant contact and returning them to Stages:
- Battery door housing replaced.
- Inconsistent over/under power readings.
- Random complete dropouts of data sent to head unit.
- Inconsistent battery readings. Showing full batt health one minute then saying battery is low the next.
- Having to open up the unit and leave it drying on radiator after every use as that seemed to help make it not be a ****** the next day on their ride.

And so on, and so on....
It's not like every day issues, but any of the above even periodically on something you rely on and paid 100's £'s for, is just not acceptable and very annoying when there are PM's out there that are almnost bomb prrof and hassle free for similar or slight more money.

:/

I did some reading up on powertap hubs and it sounds like they need regular servicing and have bearings made of dairylea, so I think I'll give that a miss. Garmin Vector doesn't take my fancy, with its silly pods. I think I'll have to go for the C1.

Maybe it's just me, or maybe I'm getting muddled. No worries.

No hard feelings. My comment was merely based on what someone had said a week or so ago, when someone was training for a long ride. And someone (can't remember who) said 100 miles wasn't that much harder than 70 miles, it was just the fueling that was different. Definitely not trying to criticse anyone. I'm a fat short-****.

The C1 certainly does seem like a very elegant solution. Even if you are limited to a 34-tooth inner ring like xdcx mentioned earlier. It's definitely between that and the Power2Max for me.

It's 36t minimum on the c1. You can't fit a 34t due to the shape of the meter itself. To be honest it's only about 6% difference between 34t and 36t so I reckon I'll probably just man up if I go that route... Failing that I can probably find a cassette with a 30t at the end if I really need it.

Looking at those Rotor Q-Rings, I just realised what they are. The weird oval rings. I think I would stick to normal rings. Maybe the cheaper Praxis Works ones :p

Weird oval rings? Get out! You realise how bling pro you would be, right? :p

Think most PMs come with some sort of warning of issues and all have pros and cons, I love my Vectors and Vector2s, but have had some issues with batteries and syncing, but this has been resolved. the Vector2s are better than the first Gen for sure, in both looks and simplicity and do provide that easy switching nature which is why I plumped for them (although now buying Vector2s and still having Vectors seems a bit OTT :P)

I think I will eventually pay the £120ish and upgrade my V1 to V2's as the pods are cooler. No other reason, black pods would look ace on my bike as is now :D

I can hands up say I have never had a single issue what so ever with my V1 Vectors. Apart from when I fitted them in FuerteV and wondered why they weren't reading..... I hadn't plugged them in behind the crank

I've not had any issues with my p2m and I've ridden in some horrendous weather. I know it's just anecdotal but I've personally been around people having lots of issues with their Stages (cranks admittedly) in perfectly fine weather or having issues with water in the smallest amount of rain.

TBH the only real issues I've had I can probably all relate to batteries which they do seem quite sensitive to.

and the black pods are much nicer looking :P

That sounds like a plan. I'd not really considered the C1s seriously before, but paired with bargain cranks they're actually a good option. I was under the impression the rings were not user serviceable but they are, which is a bonus.

Only Froomey can pull off oval rings! :p

Ah my bad. 36t doesn't sound awful then if it's only 6%.

lovely day and took the opportunity to get out.

Knackered now right enough

Very nice ride! Very jealous too. Weather is meant to be pretty bad this weekend, not looking forward to it :(

Where did you buy your P2M from? Was it from their website?

So my Karrimor foam roller arrived (thanks Roady and Shamrock for the advice!). I have a feeling it's going to hurt. A lot.

We have a severe weather warning in place. But apparently they keep changing their mind. We're low down in the valley, so it usually doesn't come to anything, but it's been very windy last night/today.

AFAIK You don't need to use Rotor Q-Rings with the Rotor cranksets, you can use normal rings too (providing BCD etc match).

Apologies. I was just making the comment based on what someone had said a few weeks ago.
Crossed wires but maybe I will do an extra 20 mile loop on my way home just to break the imperial barrier!? How'd you like them apples! ;) :p :D

No worries, happy with mine. It's a *good* kinda pain, a little like the final interval in a turbo session... It hurts, but you know it's doing something so you sadistically enjoy it! :D

Ebay :) Second hand for the win. I got the P2M, Rotor 3D cranks and whatever chainrings it is for a bit over £400 all-in.
Stop. Now.
I can't justify it!

Not defending the Stages, as I'd probably rather have a P2M now given the choice, but I haven't had any real problems with mine besides it measuring my weaker left leg and so shortening my e-Peen due to lower wattz! :p

We're closing our office soon so working from home, this frees up 3hrs a day for me. Looking forward to getting some miles in this summer:D
