My bike will have done 2500 miles very soon, guess it would be worth having a spring strip down and replace the cables, chain, tape and the likes? I can't find any specific SRAM cables, so assume Shimano break and gear cables will be fine? Something like:

Bike does feel a bit beat up after the winter (still rubbish weather) so might appreciate the uplift.

Tempted to replace the BB, but it's expensive as it's an FSA Gossamer crank set that require the MegaExo BB. :(

Just ordered:

Let's see what Castelli is like! :)

Argh! I thought I might be on course for my first full week of commuting on the bike and then I get up and it's flipping snowing. FFS. Time to sit in the car forever.

Driver that knocked me off my bike denied any involvement in any accident to his insurance company. Fun.

Can't help wonder if this driver is trying the same defence as a recent case that got a fair bit of attention, where a couple both had rights to drive the hire car and neither would admit who was driving at the time...

Consequently, the punishment was a joke.

Hopefully your video footage clearly identifies the driver.

Get a jagwire kit and save yourself some money.

Will you still have a jerb at the end of some period?
I got made redundant and had to work from home from October > End of March. I hated it. But then I didn't really go out on my bike because I'm an idiot.

Yea sholdnt be a problem, (fingers crossed) we've got a 7000 sq ft warehouse and since the business has changed since 2000, we only really need about 50sq ft now! lease is running out so we arent renewing.

Had a painfully slow (at some points) ride out with a couple of club members and a new guy. His first ride of the year, and first with the club.

He did better than me on my first ride of the year, which was a similar if not identical route. But I hung back a lot to keep him company at about 7mph for a lot of the way. It was quite nice, but at the same time a bit frustrating, as it's the first time this year I've felt somewhat strong... maybe my fitness is starting to return.

I'm riding 170 on my road bike which seems good, but more to keep my hip angle open rather than knee clearance. The drop to your drops ( :p ) must be pretty big for that to be an issue? Maybe compact bars would be a good trial option?

I'll probably not go shorter than that on my road bike as small cranks do feel a bit odd out of the saddle.
Ok thanks, good info! Drop is fairly normal on my standard 'Giant Connect' bars, only info I can find is "Short and shallow 75 / 120mm reach and drop". But not utterly convinced they are the same bars... Decals are different but they look the same and are the lowest range bars Giant seem to do???

Can't really believe this but I went for a ride after work and I bonked after 20 km. Full on bonked. 15 km later I was home but I was shaking slightly and could barely take my gloves off. That's not normal(!).
Lack of fuel and combination of fatigue from a heavy week?

What a scumbag. Good luck. I wonder whether there's any comeback for lying to your insurer?
Pretty sure they take a dim view on it, especially when a police incident number is mentioned! When I was knocked off the guy had mentioned it to his insurers but had said there was no damage. When I contacted them to pursue my damage/equipment claim they were a little surprised but once I'd mentioned a police incident number (along with the fact he'd knocked me down by not giving way at a roundabout) they spoke to him again. He then mentioned damage to his car, but as he was at fault I heard nothing more about that! Police sided with me as he hadn't reported it to them.

You'll love them! Those shorts are a good find, you guys in small have lots of bargains! ;)
Quite tempted by one of those jerseys... But white... Shows every mark!

Just seen the Free 3 thermal jersey has a temperature range of 13-18 degrees. It's thermal. Italianlols :D

No need to change your BB unless it really needs it...!

Hope the scumbag gets what he deserves. Glad you've got video footage now that he's lied!
Footage will be only useful to the Police and a court, I highly doubt his insurance company will be interested in it, or want to even see it!:rolleyes:

My legs feel so dead. And I've not been on the bike for 2 days now. I think I'm missing something from my diet. My attempts to lose weight currently are floundering and my legs feel pretty tired a lot of the time.

How tall/how much do you weigh, small is SMALL in Castelli.

Can confirm. The small was very tight downstairs.

How tall am I? I get asked this a lot, and I never know the answer exactly. Ermmm, 170cm? 5ft 6? Something like that. And 62kg.

Go small.
I am 173cm and 60ish KG's. I wish XS sizes in Castelli was more forthcoming as it would fit me perfect I reckon, small is decent but could be slightly smaller. My XS Sportful gear is perfect.

Get a jagwire kit and save yourself some money.
This is the kit I've got before, I just ordered another as need outters soon and the price is a few quid cheaper than last time! Different seller but UK postage so even quicker than last! You can get it cheaper, but I know the packaging from the first link so I'm expecting the same quality (and don't mind paying for it...!)

Yep. Top tip - Decathlon sell Jagwire Hyper brake and gear kits for a combined cost of about £15. I've not seen an improvement with more expensive kits but YMMV.
Useful to know, think you have to pay for postage from them if you don't have one near... My nearest is Birmingham!

170cm is about 5'7" and a half. That's how tall I am.
That's pretty much me @80kg and a Large in Castelli due to my sprinters thighs...! I eat pizza and burgers while drinking beer to maintain my body shape (for shorts fitment now I have 6 pairs of them!) ;) :D
