Two explosions at Brussels airport

The BBC and their fantastic broadcasting, their reporter (Stephen Sackur) reporting from Belgium just saying that they have found nails in a bomb that has been dealt with, the nails apparently to cause maximum damage.

Oh really, so just a bomb doesn't deserve to come under the heading of maximum damage then, **** *** BBC.

?? It's not a surprising revelation but it is important to establish things like that. It's kind of their job. A bomb with shrapnel will obviously cause more damage and can kill people outside the blast area.

In the interest of not being suspended for personal views i won't air it but its another terrible thing to happen within Europe and it worries me greatly that the next attack within the UK isn't so long or too far away.

RIP To all those who died

Same - RIP to those who paid the price for other people's principles. :(
I'm just counting down the days until London gets hit or another major city.

Why do you sound excited about the prospect of another London attack?

And I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't stuck those nails in poison first. :(

 Horrible to say but this is a totally valid point. An explosive without projectiles will cause far less damage if you are outside the blast zone, with nails you ensure worse injuries.

I know and most people probably know that also but i was getting at why do they like stating the obvious. It is like they start throwing things in as they start to run out of things to report on until new news comes in on the events.

Because it's common sense.... Poke the bear and be prepared...

Sound excited because I stated something?

I'm keeping emotion out of this because it really riles me.

People say things like "I am counting down the days until christmas" or "I am just counting the days until my next holiday". The turn of phrase indicates something someone is looking forward too.

Sky just showed pictures of what looked like one (or two) of the bombers from the CCTV cameras, of a guy stood wearing what looks like some sort of explosive vest,

The scary thing is that this was in the departure lounge, so they somehow managed to bypass all the x-rays, all the security checks, etc etc... almost as though they assembled it after they'd got through security, OR been handed it/collected it after all the security checks.

Pretty scary though.

It isnt the reporters job to establish it, security yes, do i or you need to know there was nails in it to cause maximum damage, no i think not.

Explosions have happened, people have been killed and maimed by scum, having nails in it and pointing that out is neither here nor there.

R.I.P

I went on a Euro trip in the summer and spent 2 days in Brussels. What a wonderful city - really enjoyed my time there. Thoughts with those who died today and hope the injured pull through.

I posted earlier that i had read it was in the departures, but everyone replied it wasn't the actual lounge, so it seems they got past security?

No, they didn't. It was a public area before the need to be screened.
