Fair one, people do like their superlatives on the internet.I know, I was just curious what would be considerably faster for £20k.

i'd like to know too, or maybe Gibbo can tell us...
Define 'Faster'?
- Around a race track (let's say the Nurburgring if that's your bag) there will be lots of cars that could keep up or go faster.
- If 'faster' means in the penis extension straight-line sense then of course a £20k Supra will go a lot faster than almost everything at the price point. Not sure I'd want to waste £20k on that though.
.
I'd far rather an EVO X with around 420BHP for 20k than a Supra for 20k, apart from a rolling race of 30-130mph the EVO will do everything else better and be a far nicer place to be.

it's funny you should say Evo X, i'm viewing two this week, one is a standard FQ330 and the other is a FQ300 but with 470HP
i drove an X about 3 months ago and i was shocked at how well it held the road, it was brilliant, i drove an Evo 5 on friday that had 550HP , it was REALLY FAST, that too held the road brilliantly, but i'm not 100% sure of its engine...........if it hadn't been thrashed too much, i certainly didn't hear anything or no smell of oil etc.
it made me laugh though, it pulled so damn hard and it felt safe too, it felt rock solid on the road..glued to it
thanks, both of these are Autobut the 470hp one has the gearbox remapped, i hate Autos period, it kills the fun, but i suppose i can live with this.
the Evo 5 i saw is much more of a track car but probably a money pit, it had race harnesses, Corbeau Revenge seats etc..........very loud too, the owner had spent an absolute fortune on it.
if you're a petrol head you'd choose the Evo 5 easily, it's just such an animal but the X is a much safer buy
the rest of the Evo 5 is mint, it's just the engine and maybe i'm worrying over nothing, because this will be my 2nd car and only for fun
I have no doubt that the TT-RS will be numb in comparison to the others. How numb is the question that will need some answering.
You have to remember I came from a very short geared 400bhp STi where there was just so much involvement in keeping up with the gear changesThe thrill from the short burts of acceleration were also a big part of the involvement. Acceleration feel is much more exciting with short gearing.
Who knows, the TT-RS might well be the one for me. Reality is that it's steering and very understeery nature will put me off.
Other options that I haven't considered are cars that have had some money spent on mods already. However, a feel for the standard car is required before I even begin to think about modified versions.
But this is what test drives are for. I'm in no rush to buy anything. The longer it takes, the more I have to spend.![]()
that Evo X looks exactly like the one i'm viewing, it's the 470HP Version in white, it looks brilliant.
the X is a modern version of the 5 and 6, it's styling is cleaner and sharper.
Them black lights are hideous!
I do love a white Evo X, one lives near me and my god it's quick.. Leaves my little golf behind like it's a Nissan Micra![]()
And people claim DSG boxes are the answer to everything. The reliability leaves something to be desired.
the standard ones are about £130 on Ebay, because i hate them too![]()
``B.C coil overs with indigo fast road setup`` not that this means much to me, but i'll soon find out, i drove the FQ 300 and that was pretty quick, but this will be miles faster.......... it's an extra 170HP
