You could use the same argument about holding the referendum in the first place, that's going to cost even more than 9m. While you're at it you may as well cancel all the elections to invest money elsewhere.

Ideally the whole referendum would be paid by leave groups.

Does anybody actually read words before they repeat the "we will make our own trade deals with the EU" line? People understand that. They would like some reasoning from the out crowd as to why that wouldn't also bring that loathed EU regulation with it.

And blind jingoism isn't an answer, sorry.

Blind jingoism is the only answer.

TBH that's the answer I'm looking for too. According to Brexiteers, the EU doesn't listen to us. According to Brexiteers, the EU just ignored us during Cameron's renegotiation despite the threat of us leaving. Yet according to Brexiteers we'll get our own way once we leave. We'll get preferential treatment and a deal that Norway and Sweden were incapable of negotiating. It's an inconsistent position that makes little logical sense.

Trouble at mill as the latest poll in the Times shows a 50/50% Brexit split for the first time and YouGov also has a split but with many undecided:

But don't worry as JC is coming to the rescue.

Pretty certain that Aaron Banks' potential legal challenge and delay would prove beneficial for the leave campaign. The longer this goes on, the more opportunities there are for the EU to look bad with the handling of the migration crisis as well as on an economic basis. Not to mention more foot-in-mouth statements from politicians and the growing euroscepticism in other EU countries which is being seized upon by the media.

It's quite obvious that DC knew he had to get the referendum over and done with while there was a good chance of winning it. I do wonder if the current date might skew things a bit given exams and younger people not being that inclined to vote anyhow.

I see there's a new transcript on hansard re: the government's leaflet which is quite entertaining reading. :)

anyone who thinks he's an idiot is an idiot :p

I'm torn. On one hand, he's doing a great impression of Frank Underwood. On the other hand, his recent biography of Churchill is the worst history book I've ever read. It's inaccuracies are astonishing.

Oh, and it's nice to see Labour polling ahead of Conservatives despite the bookies having Corbyn down as 5th favourite to be the next prime minister. I think I'll take these polls with a pinch of salt. :p

I guess what i'm after is evidence that the UK actually has any influence in EU law making? We hear all the time from the remain camp that "we'll lose influence" if we leave, but what exactly is this influence? We all know we have a lot of EU red tape and bureaucracy to adhere to (even the Government admits it) so why weren't we able to stop all this junk when it was devised and where's the evidence we actually have any influence?

That's a little more hard to answer of course, the only thing I can suggest you do is look through the record of the EU Parliaments version of the Hansard and see how British MEPs have voted for a direct look at how our MPs have influenced voting. Of course, thats a pretty dull task :p.

As an aside, Possible dumb question.

I am assuming that, however the count is carried out, the result will be like the Scottish referendum.

All the votes will be added together with the result being a simple so many for remain, so many for leave.

Is this correct?

completely true,But its 9Million,They could have at least extended hospitals that were struggling for beds,Employed more staff..Or 9 million could have built quite a few 1/2 bedroom homes for young people that are struggling to get a place of their own.

Are you also going to complain about the fact that the leave campaign has been give up to £15m for campaigning?

So you'd rather the Government make the decision for us and for the people to not have any say? I presume you're only saying this as they happen to agree with you.....

Well the argument put forward by some people for leaving is that we can hold the government accountable every 5 years if they make a decision we don't like..

of the EU would have wanted to demonstrate their love for the institution and how Britain is stronger by trading its sovereignty for membership.

I'll repeat, you don't listen. To be fair, you're not the only one.

Precisely! We have some level of control over our own Government and can vote them out every 5 years (or march in Westminster) if we don't like where they're taking us.

Whereas if we stay in the EU we may not get to vote on that for another 45 years......
