Excited!!!

Just got Vodafone to turn on the cars Tracker, which is needed to insure it and insurance documents have just arrived via email. I have a household policy now which means I can drive any car I want as can my wife fully comprehensive and loads of other stuff around loan cars of similar type to mine, any bodyshop I wish to use etc etc etc

Cost a bit, but worth it I feel. Roll on 3pm

No elite meets! How will someone in a grey Corolla be able to gawp at bright red R8's if you do that? :p

Looking forward to more pics. :)

Interesting on the household policy. Not heard of anything like that before - how does it work - just a higher premium/excess? Any restrictions? Is it through a 'regular' insurer?

Looks awesome! The closest I've got to driving one of these was an early Gallardo on a supercar day. Very fast and the engine (despite being thrashed every day by the great unwashed) was a peach!

I have to say an early V8 would be high on my list of purchases even though it'll never be as awesome as the V10, I think they look fantastic and 9/10 people would never know the difference... Including me driving it probably! It would potentially save thousands on Porsche tax too which seems to be insane at the moment.

I must be the one person who could spot the difference.

I'd take the 10 every day of the week

No its through a specialist and isn't a run of the mill policy.

Just look fora broker who deals with Hiscox car insurance. They can tailor one for you, it's really easy.

Car collected, couple of very minor niggles that I will need to be addressed next week, but other than that and the need of a proper detail I am chuffed with the car. It goes very very well and does remind me of the GT3 in it's manners and the steering is better and sharper than the standard R8 I last drove. Need to play myself into it far more but good 100 miles today to start the process of getting used to it.

What are the niggles and where are the pictures?? ;)

A rattle and a bit of plastic on the bumper coming away. Rattle sounds like boot/engine cover not seating properly but can't locate where and over 30 and on smooth roads silence but I live in the sticks with a bumpy often slow road, so it amplifies it. Both have been passed on to Audi so will be going back in for them to look. They have been all over it this week, 145 point checks etc so I am trusting it will be nothing of any big nature, but when you spend this much (or any amount frankly) I expect it to be perfect and won't accept anything but.

Pics will follow, it's now (just) fitted in the garage and I have loads of books to read, the joy of a new car. It overtakes line of car like they are parked however and god it gets some looks, even more so at 30 mph sport engaged through town. Like an 18 year old not a 48 year old, but life should be about enjoying the fruits of our labour shouldn't it?
