New ford focus RS

Yet to see one up here. Although that's not surprising as it's quite a distance to the nearest dealer that sells them!

That sounds to me more like a materials issue, like a bad batch with cheesy cylinder walls, hopefully just a batch and not all cars.

But though percentage wise it is small but numbers wise quite a few have popped in the US both stock and tuned. Biggest issue seems the torque as they are blowing normally at motorway speeds when people floor it in a high gear to overtake using the torque.

Isn't that something to do with low speed pre ignition which is really bad for turbo engines?

Oh yea and the 2 Series is a work of art, right? :p

2 series is nothing to shout about but acceptable, Focus interior really isn't great :(

New RS seems an utterly fantastic car, couldn't have one as the interior is awful!

I wouldn't say awful, but little things irk me like:

Accelerator pedal looks totally different to the other two... design inspired by Halo 5?
AIR VENT ON OR OFF. CAN IT BE MADE BIGGER?
The look of the "styling feature" on the dash... perfect space for a colleague to read their meeting notes on whilst heading down the M25.

Accelerator different to other pedals like all other cars? Vent controls big enough to use? Indent in dash to stop it from being a solid lump of rubbery plastic?

Honestly.

yep... I think as a design critic you need to try a bit harder... LOL....
Peddles.. normal.
Vents, if you have sat in a focus they actually quite big and look a little to obvious to me.
The shape on the IP is styling feature, it's indented, not proud, so you can't rest anything on it.

Now I'm not the biggest fan of Ford current interior designs, it will take some getting use to after my V40. For me the centre stack is large, high and stands out to much. The controls sometimes in some models has tended to look a bit like a cheap 80's Amstrad stereo... Latest Focus has improved on that a bit now..

Ford always has very demanding ergonomic targets and design rules, which will drive some of the styling. The vents I'm not a bit fan of, again they will have tough HVAC targets to meet for airflow and de-mist...something has to give.
So I'm quite sure from an ergonomic point of view it will work well once you get use to it.

The on/off for the the vents is like a giant slug on the dash and it still looks like a big lump of rubbery plastic. :p

What one likes, someone else doesn't. I just don't like how any of it looks.

Would need the forged alloys and recaro seats! :p.

It comes with Recaro seats as standard but they can be "upgraded" to the shell seats (also Recaro) which, IMHO, are horrific. Height cannot be adjusted and they are not comfortable.

Really need to see one in Black.

Local performance tuner near me in Congleton got theirs last week, they wanted a look at the Mustang so grab a couple of photos of their black RS whilst I was there. No recall notice for their car! :)

Yes the owner specified every option possible, so it had buckets, forged wheels with MPSS, some extra leather pack as well or something.

To be fair from the outside its actually a pretty stunning car, yes they are not as aggressive looking as the MK2, but you can easily spot one on the road, stands out from the regular Focus by miles even in the more subtle colours.

Inside well its still a Focus which for me the interior has no event its just boggo and nothing is special about it. But on the flip side its a sub 30k (just) that hits 60mph in sub 5s, handles great, goes like a stink and is a very accomplished drive.

As the saying goes you cannot have your cake and eat it, but I think most owners buy this car for performance and ability, not the interior.

It could be worse it could be like the Fiesta, I've got one today and that is pretty woeful inside, nice gear change though! :D

I think I must be ill in the head or I've just normalised the interior on my Fiesta...seems fine to me!

Is that the Pumabuilds RS?

Nope the black one is Collins, I am not sure if Alan at Pumabuild is pulling my leg but he is saying he is cancelling his order and is ordering a Mustang. I think he is joking as his business is based on RS tuning so for him RS makes more sense.
