Logged on to clash of clans this afternoon to discover I'd been given a 14 day ban!
Remember ages ago we had opposing war clans kept attacking our top bases for 0%? Well I wanted to do some research to see how and why they were doing it and came across an app called xmodgames which I installed to check out, and soon discovered that this was what they were using as it had a sandbox 'attack from replay' mode which meant they could see traps of any base in war that had previously been attacked. Shortly after that I removed this app from my device.
I've been scratching my head all afternoon to try and figure out why they might've banned me, and I remember a fortnight ago having to reinstall android on my tablet from an old nandroid backup (basically a snapshot of the whole system and all the apps on it). Anyway, it turns out this app was still on there, so I've essentially been playing for the last 2 weeks on my tablet with this app installed on there.
So, it seems like Supercell must be either checking for other installed apps or existing directories within the file system to see who has these apps installed and dishing out bans accordingly
I'm glad to see Supercell are taking a proper stance on this. I'm just kicking myself that I had it installed and didn't even realise. I know I only have myself to blame, and I shouldn't have let my curiosity get the better of me.
