What have you done to your car today?

Old wheel caps off.

WTF happened to these !

Probably all that acidic wheel cleaner car washes use

It lives! fired up for the summer. Put a standard exhaust and cat on so it will hopefully pass emissions this time. Just waiting on a gasket as it was blowing after i swapped it over.

Stop sticking LED's and pressed plates on that poor M3:(

:P each to their own!
I won't be doing anything outlandish, no stick on tat other than the already fitted ACS rear spoiler, just small mods to improve some deficiencies, such as the weedy interior bulbs, and the woeful reverse light, something I need because they turn off all our street lighting after 10PM.

The number plates are borderline, I went for as original and clean as possible, I'll see how it goes.

Replaced the keyfob emblem. The old one was a bit naffed up!

Dat peeling feeling

Where did you get the emblems from? I was going to get a replacement housing for one of my fobs since it's marked up, but would a new emblem.

Dropped it off at Toyota for them to check transmission fluid as there are reports that with a tow package (extra ATF cooler) they leave the factory down a quart of fluid.

They gave me a 2016 Camry as a loaner... not great, but will never be as bad as the Chrysler 200 I once had as a loaner

Top engine cover removed as it doesn't fit properly with the factory inlet manifold gone.

Gave the new bits a bit of a clean too and put the AT Power sticker on the plenum.

Need to sort something for the hose between airbox and plenum, the joint moved too much and is too short for silicone, the ducting thats on there at the moment looks really crap though, lets the look of the engine bay down a lot.

Clarkey go tell BMW that, they've been sticking airboxes over ITBs for donkeys years :D

I am tempted to try a motorsport style filter but the noise would likely get on my nerves after a while, apart from which sometimes I come back from work at silly o'clock and the neighbours might not appreciate sweet induction sounds quite so much. Running with just a sausage shaped air filter and it sounds like this, but much for the drive to work no? :p

Running with the plenum setup it still sounds good but its not quite racecar loud like in the video, running open trumpets nets me 7bhp though over the plenum and airbox, so its clearly a little restrictive. If I can't get a rubber joiner to work I'm gonna get Rich @ Doritech to fabricate me a 3 inch intake with cone filter behind the front bumper anyway, that will liven it up.

Will, if you want one I've got a Pipercross PX600 filter and blank backing plate its yours if you cover postage if you want to try running "open" trumpets

Doesn't sound that great actually, maybe a box is for the best. I'm used to the sweet music of ITB's on 4AGEs and CSLs.

It sounds a bit raw in the video tbh, quality of the video is bit rough and you get horrendous wind noise with an mx5. Never sound like a csl though no matter what's done to it, two cylinders missing and about 1k rpm off the redline! This will sound like many other Duratec engined cars though, find a Caterham with itbs and this is basically the same engine bar a more advanced head (mazda MZR gets vvt where as most Duratecs don't).

Frozennova that's very kind, May take you up on that but need to see what the changes to the tune would be apart from the hardware swap, since I'm running with the stock maf sensor at the minute and that obviously won't fit anywhere with the sausage filter. I'm going back to bbr for a slight tweak on Friday so will ask them there.

My Mondeo's rear arch has been deteriorating for a while now, I already know that it's had a scrape & a repair from the previous owner as there is filler in there.

It was starting to bulge so I thought something had to be done -

I started cutting the paint back & found a rusty bit, obviously this has not worked around from the lip as the lip was comparatively clean. A bit more poking and it turned into a hole.

I ended up cutting a 2" by 2" section out of the arch as it was rotten, the problem is it was too windy to do any welding so I've had to do a temporary fix & use fibreglass until I get a dry weekend where I can do some welding on it, in the meantime I am going to see if I can get my hands on a clean wheel arch section and then just cut the whole wheel arch out and replace it with a clean one.

The problem with working on this car unlike my Capri is I need it on the road 5 days a week so have to be quick.

It looks like this now, not too noticeable & if it lasts 2 months 'til I can sort it properly i'm happy -

Looks good to me! I don't have the experience nor the confidence to do that kind of work on my car :p .

My golf has some rust starting to come through on the drivers side wheel arch. The rust is coming from the inside, so might just see if it's covered by the VW corrosion warranty.

washed my car this morning, and the time it took me to walk to the garage, pick up my drying towel and come back out..... a bird had poo'd on the roof, windscreen and bonnet.... but thankfully not through my letterbox

Drove the Octavia to work for the first time this morning, it was great. Much much quieter, much more relaxing, less gear changes required, really light clutch, and it averaged an indicated 64.6MPG with a mixture of 65MPH (GPS) driving on the motorway, and heavy traffic! :)

Ordered some new mats, new heater control knobs, and new numberplates for it too. Just needs an armrest now and its all systems go.
