I actually feel upset and sick :(

You obviously never owned a 970 :p

and yet another genius who thinks he knows more than NVIDIA.

Why would they ruin their reputation by lying to us? A few quick sales compared with billions of rnd investment? Use your fn head

Have seen it a million times already - all that you can derive from that statement is that in a best case scenario the GTX 1070 outperforms the Titan X, which still leaves a lot of room for highly clocked GTX 980 Tis (say if the GTX 1070 doesn't clock well). Don't really get why you would take a PR statement like that at face value, especially since the GTX 1080 was announced to be only 20-25% faster than a Titan X (also best-case scenario). I guess we'll see soon enough though; 17th is not that far off. My bet is definitely on the GTX 980 Ti beating the GTX 1070 and being a bit slower than the GTX 1080 in DX11 titles (in DX12 the hardware scheduler with async compute is going to give the newer card an advantage).

And what's with the ****** attitude? You think a company like nvidia spent all of that money to develop consumer graphics cards? GP100 is a totally different beast from the GP104.

Do you forget the way they marketed the 970? Where they carefully omitted a few things.

Or the miracle performance drivers for Kepler?

Or the wood screws incident?

And AMD have been just as bad.

Only a fool would base their opinion of a new card from the marketing slides from either company. And at the moment, that is all we have.

Wait until proper reviews come out.

Like only having 3.5gb ram...

People worry too much about keeping up with the Jones'. Can you play the games you want to play at high/extreme settings at your chosen resolution? If so stop worrying and just get back to enjoying them. Just because a better card will soon be out it doesn't mean devs will suddenly release games that are so strenuous/poorly optimised as to only run well on the latest cards.

If you're really that concerned flog your 980 Ti on a well-known auction site for £400-£450 (crazy they're going for that much) now and get a 1070 which is still anticipated to be faster than a Ti.

No its not
Initially it may not, but as more new games are released, Nvidia will become less and less bother to optimise the performance of old gens cards for them- just take a look at the performance 780Ti vs 970 at launch vs now, the 970 has gone from on par with the 780 to overtaking the 780Ti.

The 1080 is suppose to be 2x 980s in relative performance or so they say, i dont think the 1070 will be quite like that tho, more like a 2x 960 in sli kinda performance at a guess. Not sure if 2x 960s is like that of a 980ti i kinda doubt it. End of the day we must wait for benchmarks from reputable sources before we kinda go saying x beats y.

* At VR not normal usage.

Wasnt sure if the claim was for vr or not, sure vr scores were double in the slides but i wasnt sure totally if its suppose to be "like" 2x 980s in sli. We will see i guess when benchies come out. :) At end of the day they are what they are, us bickering about this and that wont matter when they are released and good drivers are out for em as they will be as i said what they are and nothing more or less.

The Romans knew a thing or two even way back then - and had a phrase for it too.

Caveat Emptor.

e.g. Do your research next time, this was hardly a secret. Its a fact of life that something better will be coming along and it will either be cheaper or better price/performant. Buy now and don't regret it or you will always be waiting for the next best thing which is just round the corner.

The drama in this thread is so much better than those on TV

On a side note, one way of marketing is to bring up the hype and catch the impulsive buyers ;)

Just saying.
