Rocket league 250fps solid at 1440p ?

As topic :D I am considering going from 1080p to a 1440p monitor but I really want to be able to hold 250fps pretty solidly (including wastelands map). I don't mind turning bits down but does anyone know if an i7 2600k @ 4.7ghz and a 970gtx strix would be capable of this, even if lots of stuff turned down? Or would I be needing a 1070 too? :D

Im basically after someone who has rocket league, a 1440p monitor and a gtx970ish gpu to feel sorry for me and briefly test! :D

As above why do you need 250fps?

I play at 1440p and have 2x 780's in SLI, I do have dips in framerate down to around 50fps but as my monitor is only 60hz anyway I don't notice and it certainly doesn't detract from the game.
 
144fps on a 144 hz monitor would be ideal, anything over even 0.5 fps would be a waste. Tbh anything over 60fps is probably a waste. 250fps, well your eyes wouldn't notice any difference from 144!
 
Honestly guys im super fussy and been into fps games competitively for 20 years.:D i can tell between 144fps and 250fps easily on my 144hz benq xl2411z...its like an illness of my brain :o its just how i play!

So....is it possible in theory with most things turned right down, even shadows? That is the question! :D

I know this is me being stupid/weird, but could anyone test? ;)

Will that actually work accurately to test? Just googling it atm but that would be the ideal solution to test for sure if so, even if it of course did not look right.

I bet if you removed the FPS counter you wouldn't be able to tell the 2 apart. The monitor is refreshing 144 times a second, sync issues aside, you aren't going to notice beyond 144 FPS.

Nah honestly, I can 100% tell between 60fps/100fps/144fps/200fps and 250fps without an fps counter within 2 seconds of moving around. I certainly could on my 144hz monitor anyway, no clue on 60hz.

The reason the fps is super nice is the minor adjustments just before hitting the ball....especially in aerials etc. It just really has that extra level of precision. I can only speak for myself here :D and i know im super fussy, which im certainly not denying.

Yeah performance wise it's perfect for testing. Image quality wise DSR isn't has good has native resolution.

Below 144 FPS you'll probably notice, but the maximum output of the monitor is 144 Hz, it doesn't matter if the input is 250 FPS or 1000 FPS, it will be bottlenecked by the monitor. The monitor will not display 250 FPS.
