Would a Muslim country allow "praise our christian god" on the side of their buses? No they wouldn't so in the name of equality id have to say no.
A cult is a religion without enough power, a religion is a cult with enough power. If I start a religion and 20 people believe in it and no-one cares and we have no power, it would be called a cult. If 200 million people believed in it and we had therefore had enough power, it would be called a religion even if it was exactly the same thing it was when only 20 people believed in it and it was called a cult. The distinction is purely about power.
.
Freedom of religion is worth defending for the sake of preventing strife regardless of religion. If you think making a religion illegal will make extremist fanatics think twice before beheading you, then maybe the head might work better off your shoulders...
Making it illegal would make the UK the focus of Islamic extremism on an international level and label the UK as spearheading the anti-Muslim movement. I can only foresee more violence and trouble by going down this path.
I always find it amusing when the Left come to the defense of Islam, which is actually more Far Right than the people they're opposing. Yes let's come to the defence of a Sexist Authoritarian religion which has rules on what you can wear, eat, at what time you can eat, that says you must pray 5 times a day and that people who aren't part of your Religion are considered 2nd class citizens. It really does baffle me.
Change it to a LCD screen that displays random passages from the Quran and Hadiths. It would be educational to those who know little about Islam.
People are free to choose if they want to live some sort of weird regieme. A lot of us denounce what we see as the negative parts of Islam. But if people really want to live like that then that's up to them, as long as it doesn't effect the rest of us.
That's why the left defend Islam.
I'd ideally want to see Islam outlawed in the UK, but failing that the least I'd hope for is for it to not be allowed in the public space.
Freedom of religion is not something worth defending. It was something conjured up in different times to help resolve sectarian conflict between Christians, not to tolerate the odious and aggressive religion of Islam.
Yeah because those brainwashed fanatics represent billions of normal peaceful Muslims
I have no problem with it but you usual knuckle draggers are obviously going to have a problem with it ie Britain First, EDL, BNP ..etc .etc
I don't think it's unreasonable to worry about Britain being influenced by Islamic culture, we are at rather opposite ends of the spectrum socially. Easy to dismiss everyone who has that concern as a "knuckle dragger" though.
Really?![]()
Not all in Islam share identical views in my experience.
Really. People are starting to wake up to the fact multiculturalism does not work, it's the antithesis of society.
'a cult is a religious or social group with socially deviant or novel beliefs and practices.'
I think you need to understand a little harder.
Miriam Webster:
Simple Definition of cult
: a small religious group that is not part of a larger and more accepted religion and that has beliefs regarded by many people as extreme or dangerous
How you use words has importance. The use of the word cult to describe a major world religion is pejorative and insulting.
