You could also try getting a JIS screwdriver as the screws aren't Phillips head screws. I might see if I can borrow one from a guy in the office but I think I might have already messed the head up too much.

cant you drill the head? just enough so it frees whatever you want freeing, then try pliers on the stub to get that out

even then its gonna be hard

if the exhaust header nuts resemble pork scratchings I wouldn't risk it,they will just snap off,i took mine to a shop for the few remaining, they got them out

The header is in the way, I can't drill it without taking the header off. I might just ask how much it would cost to get that removed, I'll paint it and reassemble it myself. If they charge me too much, I'll just leave it. :p

That's the thing, for a track day I'll need leathers. But I don't really fancy shifting out £600-£700 on leathers

As long as you get the 2 piece leathers with the 360 degree zip you can use them on track days so you don't have to get a 1 piece. :)

Ah but that sudden spike when you're high in the revs of a IL4 is pretty addictive

I love how mine "sings" when you get it around past 8k :D

Love my Hornet !

Great Bikes.

I wouldn't count on it, i think they are ugly :p

Naked ones are definitely ugly but the right colour one with all the plastics on it looks sweet enough.
That Blue is real nice & I've seen white ones that look mint.

I need to replace my clutch cable today it's needed adjusting at the lever end every few days now so it's dead but I hate doing full on clutch adjustment :( pain in the arse.

Then it's on to tps adjustment and front brake line replacement.

I've got untold jobs to do but every time I open the shed up & get a bike out I just go out for a ride instead. :p

I've been putting off this cable replacement for a few weeks it's going to bite me if I don't stop being a lazy bar steward and do it soon :D

I can slowly see why you would go for a new bike instead of buying 2nd hand, so many little jobs slowly pile up as the bike gets older and older... do any of you actually enjoy working on the bike? I hate it :p

Clutch cable is a doddle to replace, hardest bit will be routing it through the bike.

Overlap the new & old cables about an inch or so & tie them together using a couple of cable ties then as you pull the old one out you pull the new one in, JD.

When doing work recently on service stuff oil, brakes etc. that was actually ok. Actually enjoyed bleeding the brakes :p However, when I changed my steering bearings ... oh my goodness, many many bad words were said while trying to get the race off the steering stem. It was literally Hitler.

Afterwords it was a massive sense of achievement so I'll continue to work on my own for as long as I'm able :)

Tried this, did not work. There wasn't enough room to get both old and new through the gap so ended up doing it the manual way.

The clutch cable was no stress, the TPS adjustment on the other hand nearly had me setting light to the bike and walking away

Anyway done now time for a takeaway and beer, the test riding shall be done tomorrow.

Can you expand on the TPS adjustment, did you brake the thread on the screws and had to use a hacksaw to make a grip for a flat head screw? :p

I gave a call to a private guy, out of curiosity I want to see how much he'll charge for it. I don't have the patience to do it and will most likely F it up really badly. :p If its fairly cheap, I won't bother. If he asks too much... I'll attempt it myself.

Was way to hamfisted with my adjustment at first then raised my idle way too high trying to get it to start again. Spent a good hour making tiny tweaks to the tps and turning my idle down until it finally fired up and idled again.

Luckily there was a white line on the tps and the mounting point showing where it was originally set but tiny movements make a huge difference.

In the end it was 1 maybe 2mm adjustment to drop it from 3k to 1.5k.

Complete ballache but not a job I'd pay someone else to do. If you keep in mind were talking tiny tiny movements then I'd have been done in 10 minutes :D

Tomorrow I'll give it a run out although it probably won't be till I'm back on my commute that I really notice the low speed improvement.

Next job is the front brake line that I didn't get round to today and a good clean.
