Form my experience of 980Ti this would not be enough to make games that much more playable. It's definately better but not going from unplayable to OMG this is awesome better.

Going Adaptive Sync actually made a much higher impact to make games smoother at 4K for me and that was droping from OC 980TI (1450 core) to a Fury Pro. So even thought I droped ~20% in performance the games were far more playalbe with adaptive sync.

Wow GP106 have 256 bit bus, about 4 TFLOPS and bus powered! That faster than GTX 970 and probably 75W TDP. :eek:

Look like GP108 will finally have 128 bit bus, about 2 TFLOPs, faster than GTX 950 and closer to GTX 960 performance on very tiny chip measured 87mm2 if it will still use same size as GK208 and GM108 while consume around 33W TDP or bigger chip around 100mm2 with less than 50W TDP.

GP108 could be AMD worst nightmare If GP108 can overclocked to achieve GTX 970 level performance to play VR without issues.

Set the 1080 to non ear shattering fan levels and it's absolutely guaranteed that throttling will drop performance significantly.

Now if all GPUs were set to 100% fan speed to prevent throttling then review serves nothing other than to show what to expect with a WC block. If only 1080 was set to 100% then teh comparison to all other GPUs in the test is invalidated.

Lol, even I have limits and certainly won't be going over the top. I want one for sure and desperate to get one to compare against my TX in side by side vids but not at any cost!

Please take time to click his reviews on the other cards. Took me 30 seconds. ALL his overclocked cards are tested at 100% when overclocked to remove ANY thermal issues.

SO as long as the stock cooler on the 980ti and Titans are sufficient at 100% and neither card throttles at 62C then there should be no throttling on any card.

And clearly with the 1080 maxing out at 61C it doesn't need 100% fans. It needs a better fan profile than the standard one for overclocking but so does the 980ti I would assume?

The general opinion i got from everyone here is "I'm willing to blow lots of moeny on a GPU, but im not stupid enough to fall for Nvidias dirty FE tricks" which is basically where i am right now.

I'll be getting one regardless of price, ive been sat on a 780 for far too long now, and the 31st is my birthday, but only on the partner cards without that horrible cooler and the price premium.

(Helps that i won £175 on the football last weekend to put towards it though

)

I have done a ton of OT at work that more than covers whatever NVidia charge but I won't be spending silly money just for the hell of it. I can wait and I have my Rift to keep me going whilst I do
