Do it! :D Any questions just ask. Mines an older 2005 than what you'd be looking at I imagine but not much changed ont he facelift. Z800 did obviously.

Ignore the "IL4 boring" squad, mental claim. Especially with engines from nakeds as they're often detuned for more midrange so not as peaky. Nice torquey engine.

Cheers :) I'm watching some youtube videos now to see if i like them. :)

The Boring quotes are Laughable mate especially coming from folk that haven't even ridden one. :p Could always meet up with me somewhere & take mine for a scream if you have cover of course.
My iL4 x 600 Fazer is Far from boring & you can have loads of fun at speeds that aren't silly. Take it round to 10k+ through 3rd 4th etc & it sings a song like nowt else I've ridden & I've owned Twins & my old VFR750 don't forget. The noise the Fazer makes with an aftermarket can on makes you think you're going supersonic speeds when in reality you are just making reasonable progress.
There are a lot of SV owners on here & elsewhere as they are 1 of the best A2 Bikes but they should wait until they have a little more experience before making such a sweeping statement that just makes then look ignorant for want of a better word. :)

I tried to fit the restrictor myself, but I gave up the screws are made out of french cheese lol... I'll call around and see how much it'll cost and in the process get the certificate stamped. :)

Had my first shimmy today, only a small one. The bike corrected itself so all good... BTW So many cyclist around me area, its so annoying apparently they're doing some kind of race, he was even showing me the hand to slow down lol...

Edit: The K&N Filter fixed the jerky throttle down low (seems smoother overall), but the pops and crackles are gone. :(

They are one of the best A2 bikes, why does that make me ignorant?

An air filter shouldn't do that.

You are riding it unrestricted? :D

An air filter shouldn't do that.
It will if the air/fuel mixture has changed drastically.

Didn't mean you personally Bud I didn't even notice you comment that they were boring to be honest. :)

How I meant it was that those who are stuck on an A2 license rate the SV higher than those that are not, Owners are some what biased on here towards the SV. I then noticed someone who hasn't even ridden an IL4 comment about them being boring but didn't want to name him & make him look a **** so just made the general comment instead. :)

Yep same for me, IL4's are great, espcially if you want manic redline action, or smooth torque, or easy town manners, but god I love v-twins and Aprilia V4's :D

Triples on the other hand... meh, they're alright I suppose. :p

The things that are annoying in the SV are: Crap brakes and crap suspension which gets nervous at higher speeds in corners. I can see why so many people do the GSXR conversions...

The CB650F was boring (IL4), the GSX-R 600 k6 was a really short ride around PRIVATE roads :p , it was smooth but there wasn't really much torque in the low revs. The guy who swapped with me, loved the V-Twin. He swapped his GSXR for a V-Storm, same engine as the one in the SV if I remember correctly.

'IL4 are boring' is not just my statement, most people have mentioned that other engine configurations are a more interesting choice. lol :p I really can't see how a Fazer 600 has comparable amount of torque to a similar powered V-Twin or L-Twin. 61.2 Nm @ 9500 rpm vs SV's 64 Nm @ 7200 rpm (Not to mention its a lot lighter)

Edit: When are you getting the Tuono? I'll take my cam on Thursday, hopefully the Tuono with 180whp will be there. :D

600 IL4's don't have much down low, you typically have to rev them, even more so the supersport variants.

I wouldn't say IL4's are boring, it'd be more accurate to say they have less 'character' than other engine types. A 600cc IL4 will give you a nice thrill when you're at 11k rpm and full throttle :D Definitely not boring!

1000cc IL4's do have loads of torque down low which makes them dead easy to ride, 6th gear roll on from 3-4k rpm and you're away, no hassle. But a 1000cc V-twin has even more low down torque, and are just a bit more usable on the roads.

It's all down to personal preference in the end :)

Edit: I won't be getting a Tuono until July/August, unless we get a nice bonus at work and even then it won't make a huge difference. Then I have to find the right one, if I haven't got one by end of September I'll wait and pick up a winter deal, as there won't be much riding time left by then.

Yeah, 'boring' seems a bit strong for some... without calling names. But like you said, they're lacking character and on roads without doing stupid speeds you won't be enjoying that power. :p

I want a sport for my next, there's isn't a massive choice of engine configs, most are IL4. Hopefully, I'll be visiting the track more often, so I'll be able to use the power and torque the IL4 offers in the high rev range. :D The smoothness for the boring daily commutes should be good too. :D

Edit: I have to give it to Honda, the CB650F was really easy to ride. The was no engine braking when you let go off the throttle in a turn, the acceleration was nice and smooth, even when you opened it more. There wasn't this surprising torque and lifting up front. But I like that character of the V-Twin, a lot will find it harsh at first (like I did when rode it for the first time), but soon you enjoy it.

Edit2: Just re-read some posts, no one is biased about the SV650. Its just a great bike, there's a reason as to why there are so many people who love them, race them and used them for project bikes. The SV community is really big, just around this forum how many members have an SV. When something's good, people buy it... ;) Now in comparison, how many people on here have a fazer 600? How active are the Fazer forums, if there are any... The haven't been produced in ages, for the SV650 there's another gen coming out soon. Now I'm just thinking who really is biased about their bike, I'm most certainly not. ;)

Cheers. :) took my bike this morning and it was a great ride, had my back pack on which seemed to help my back, I also put the thermal lining back in my jacket to make it more snug and my back was fine, no pain at all when I got off the bike, maybe I was just having a bad day at the weekend. :)

You can leave out the private roads bit now you've already told the world you're unrestricted :p:D
